It’s only a few weeks after Ray and I kissed, though it feels like it was a few decades ago. I can’t imagine what life is without him. Even though I’ve known him since I can remember. I mean that it feels like we’ve been ‘together’ for so many years. I’m already head over heels for him. I know I should not fall in love though, as if I do, I will fall forever. But Ray will be there, he’ll hold my hand and pull me up from the edge of the cliff and save me. So it may feel like I was falling, but Ray had pulled me up before I could fall. He saved me. From nothing, I guess.
I know stuff like that makes no sense coming from my mouth, or anybody’s in that case. My feelings for him are so hard to explain, though.
We have not told anybody yet, but we plan to tell our closest friends today, though.
That list in uncertain, since we have so many friends that we’ve only had for about a month.
Basically all our friends from before that are all gone.
Barbara’s gone crazy, and Geoff has, too.
Gavin, Lindsay, Chris, Miles, Kerry… is that all?
Jesus, I can’t even remember.
But today I think we should only tell Gavin. We are closest with him, and it’s been awkward lately because all us three have spent so much time together. It’s weird when you can only kiss your boyfriend when your best friend is out of the room. Not to mention, when your best friend is out of their own room. Twice.
The bell goes before I can see if Ray has arrived, so the best thing is to just go to class.
I have this class with Gavvy and Barb… ara.
I’ve got to start getting used to the fact that Barbara isn’t my friend anymore. I can’t give her nicknames if we barely know each other… well, anymore.
The only spot remaining is next to Barbara. You gotta be fucking kidding me.
“Good morning, Michael. Your spot is next to Barbara. Anyway as I was saying, these new seating plans should boost your learning and…” The teacher says.
I basically stopped listening after that. Instead, I was focused on Barbara’s evil glare.
I spot Gavin sitting across the room, just as he sees me. He mouths the words from hell.
“Ray isn’t coming today. Sorry.”
I need to tell someone already.
I can’t come out on my own.
Barbara’s glare at me thickens through the lesson and when I feel like I can’t take it anymore, I see in the corner of my eye, the looks of her negotiating something. Her harsh expressions turn to soft ones as she stares at me, and she almost seems a little giddy and excited.
After the lesson, Barbara drags me out of the class before I can even see daylight and we go to the library. She drops me where we once lost our friendship about a month ago.
“I’m sorry.” She says, looking up into my eyes, her hair holding clearly fake extensions, but her face, true expressions.
She pulls them out, and untangles her hair. She looks normal, albeit the outfit.
She’s… normal. The tears forming in her eyes are real, and she starts to breakdown. I grab her and hug her tight, letting her tears fall on my jumper freely. She embraces herself in my warmth and I feel it. I think she’s finally broken out of that gross personality.
“The only reason I wanted you for that…” She pauses.
“Was because I wanted to convince myself I wasn’t Gay.” She says.
We are quiet and my eyes tell her she needs to explain. She sighs.
“When Lindsay kissed me, I felt… warm. Fluffy. I realised then that I like her… a lot. But she doesn’t like me anymore. What have I done!” She cries back into my shoulder, her arms wrapped around my back.
I take off my tear-soaked jumper and drop it over her head.
“There. Lindsay doesn’t like a girl who flaunts herself.” I say, smoothing out her hair.
The sleeves are a little long for her, but otherwise it fits her well. She laughs and looks at the jumper compared to her tiny body.
“You know, my mum says I’ll grow tall someday.” She smiles, giving my cheek a small peck.
“That was just friendly, nothing else.” She warns, skipping away to her next class.
“Normal Barb…” I whisper with s sigh of utter relief.
(Lol did you get the RWBY reference? Normal Knees… haha I’m funny… okay not really.)
I have my next class with Gavin yet again, though this time we are a little freer.
That class is Music, the only class I can talk with swears and all that… heheh… shit.
I see Gavin from across the COLA, so I meet up with him and then we walk the rest of the way to Music together.
“Gunna enjoy Music?” Gavin asks as we approach the room.
We sit in class just singing old songs together, laughing our asses off. It’s what we do in Music nowadays. I used to just sit here and play little crappy tunes on the keyboards but I have a friend here now.
“Our house!” I almost yell.
“In the middle of our street!” Gavin says, close to screaming.
We sing until our throats are much past sore before we decide to take a break.
We grab our bottles and absent-mindedly try to finish our own before the other. This is a fucking race.
“I’m gu-rglur-nna bea-gur-t youuuu” Gavn says through gulps.
I drop my bottle to the ground and chant my own name with pride. Gavin’s bottle is more than a third full.
“No fair, you cheated. Your bottle was almost empty!” Gavin whines.
“No way, I haven’t taken a sip all day.” I brag, folding my arms.
“Bullshit.” Gavin mutters, popping his bottle back into his bag.
I check my timetable for my next class after recess. It reads Gym. Well I guess I can check if Barb and Linds are back as best buds again.
I guess that question doesn’t have to wait an answer.
“Hey Michael.” Both girls say in unison, their arms dangling on each other’s shoulders.
“Oh hey girls, back together?” I say, almost cheering.
“Yep. And by the way, Michael… neither of us went to 2nd period.” Barbara slowly whispers, just as Lindsay harshly nudges her ribs.
“Totally… worth it.” Barb groans, clutching her side.
“We met up just outside English. We both tried to walk in the door at the same time. Bumped into each other. Then something happened.” Lindsay smiles, staring into Barbara’s eyes, filled with pain, which just makes her laugh.
“You got caught by my good looks.” Barb says, just as she gets nudged again.
“Still worth it.” She chuckles heavily.
“You’ll feel it tomorrow.” Lindsay says, snorting a little.
“Hey, so will you.” She replies suggestively, earning the hardest and last elbow to the ribs.
“So worth it, but I’m going to stop. I mean before I need stitches.” She says, sitting down next to me.
Gavin joins and practically slides into the plot aside me.
“Hey Gavino.” I say, ruffling his hair.
“Sup Mogar.” He replies, tugging me close a little.
It’s strange how we’ve become such close friends in such short time.
