The single bare shoulder Betty is sporting -- a fashion that was established in the 1980s just so that future decades would have a visual shorthand to reference -- think this backdrop -- in the case here, it probably violated the school dress code so she just pulled out a black shirt from her locker room to put under it. That creates a curious new fashion.
