The model for this 1970 Robert McGinnis painting, which was used for the cover of the Signet paperback edition of Carter Brown's THE UNORTHODOX CORPSE, was Shere Hite (1942–2020), then an undergraduate at Columbia University and later a groundbreaking, highly controversial sexologist and the author of, inter alia, THE HITE REPORT ON FEMALE SEXUALITY, first published in 1976. Here's McGinnis's sketch of Hite for the above painting:
