For those of you who know Emma, it has been clear that her weight is something that she has struggled with from a young age. Always one to 'grin and bear it', she's never been the type to voice how hard it is for her. She's tried diet's and exercise all with little to show for it and nothing that truly lasts. This past year however, she finally reached her limit and decided that she no longer wished for her weight to be something that defined her. With the support of close family and friends, she has looked into Bariactic Surgery, something that her insurance thankfully covers, but that will also provide her with a 'tool' to helping lose weight and become a more healthier version of herself.
Unfortunately, there is a rather large sum of $2500 that her insurance does not cover. And while her and her family are doing all they can to pull these funds together, it's looking more like a distant dream rather than a reality. This is where you, Dear Readers, could help her more than you could imagine. The sooner Emma get's the $2500, then the sooner she can start getting on the track to a healthier and happier lifestyle.
Now you may be asking; "Why would Emma choose something so drastic? Isn't this surgery the easy way out?"
Drastic? In some circumstances yes, but when a young girl of 23 has a BMI of 69.3 and is 'severely obese' then drastic is what you need. This surgery alone could ADD years to Emma's life and isn't that something we all want? To have Emma's bright smile, witty comebacks and often times sarcastic attitude in our lives for a very, VERY long time? Yes, you bet it is.
And 'easy way out' it certainly is not. This surgery doesn't mean Emma is instantly cured, she doesn't immediately lose 100+ pounds over night. She's in for at least 6 weeks recovery, 2-3 weeks of which she will be on a purely liquid diet. Why would anyone WILLINGLY put themselves through that if not to better themselves in the long run? Along with that, Emma will have to learn an entirely new way of eating. The Vertical Sleeve literately makes your stomach into the shape of a Banana, which means they are cutting out a large portion of your stomach, which means there is no possible way you can fit a ton of food in there without throwing it back up. And with a new way of eating, comes the exercise; if Emma want's to see results then she is going to have to put in the hard work and effort to get them. All of these things are something that Emma is WILLINGLY prepared and ready to put herself through in order to take back her body and claim it as her own again.
Now, you might also be asking "Well if Emma needs this money so bad, why doesn't she get a job?"
She is, she's trying desperately to find one. But job opportuities are scarce in this small town, as we all know and even when she does find a place that is hiring, then she will have to battle with the assumption that 'Fat people are lazy'. (Here you may be thinking 'That doesn't happen, you're full of it.' But we assure that it does happen.)
So trust us, the girl is trying, filling out applications for any jobs she may be qualified for and when she does find that job, she'll be scrimping and saving too.
And finally the, "Well, what if Emma goes over her goal of $2500?"
First off, that would be a BLESSING, one Emma would be incredibly thankful for and one she where would feel extraordinarly indebted to all you lovely people. Second, any amount that is over the $2500 will go to purchasing any medications she may need to purchase after her surgery OR they will be used to purchase the vitamins and protien suppliments that will become a part of Emma's every day lifestyle. We assure you that ANY and ALL money raised will go to nothing but Emma's surgery and her recovery.
So here, Dear Readers, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and hope that you will be able to help our dear Emma get on the track to living a better and HEALTHER lifestyle. Even a $1 would be GREATLY appreciated and if you cannot donate, then please spread the word at least.
