I’m a barista that works at a international coffee chain (the siren one), and I’m pretty new. I was working the other day and my shift lead was chatting with my other coworkers and she mentioned that she always puts new people on food and drive through first and that they have to “earn bar time”.
Excuse me ma’am, but how do you expect me to EARN bar time when you GIVE ME NO BAR TIME! Of course I’m going to suck on the rare occasion I get put on bar because I’m never PRACTICING.
I am one who has to repeat things in order to learn. I can’t just memorize info and be good at something. If you wait weeks in between my bar time, I’m never going to get better

A REMINDER TO PEOPLE ORDERING TIK TOK DRINKS AT STARBUCKS:
We don’t have the recipe for your tik tok drink on hand
we have to ring up every ingredient, and it may take us a bit to punch in the very specific amounts of each ingredient
your drink is going to cost, on average, more than $5. Over $8 if it’s a venti or frappuccino drink.
don’t get mad at us if the price is high. We are just trying to ring up your drink properly and not get fired.
don’t get mad at us if we need more than a minute to watch through the recipe video and prepare the drink. It’s not on the menu. We didn’t learn the drink in training. Have patience.
Once your order is up, please take your drink somewhere else to take instagram photos of it. Please don’t try to snap pics of it at the bar. People are waiting to pick up their orders.
Okay, so I took a quick break from Hibiscus and Butterfly to make an IRL Sweetheart Latte, and the milk curdled the instant it touched the honeyed hibiscus tea! The game mentioned frothing the milk to keep it from curdling, and that’s exactly what I did, with my espresso machine’s steam wand. I’ve been making my own coffee lattes for over a year now, but my tea knowledge is limited at best. Can someone tell me what I did wrong?
