We recently saw a lovely barn conversion. This morning I stumbled upon the weirdest converted barn I've ever seen. (Already, on the front lawn, there's a fountain, then some kind of stone shed w/a door.) Some one actually bought the 1805 gem in Macungie, PA. 3bds, 4ba, 3,870sqft, sold for $725k (Zillow's est.: $811,400).
I'm not sure that I understand their vision. Seems like they left some beams. That can't be a hay loft, b/c of the fancy fireplace. Unless, they put it in.
They added the windows, probably, the spiral stairs, and the realtor Photshopped the furniture.
I'm confused.
They definitely added the kitchen.
I like the cabinets.
Very fancy powder room.
Interesting loft.
Doors to the other rooms.
Fancy bath.
And, a walk-in closet.
Not sure what this is. Stone, cabinetry, a niche, and corbels on columns. Could be a primary bedroom?
Looks like those doors are salvaged from a church. Maybe a laundry room on the right?
What an interesting house- located in the Historic Federal Hill District of Baltimore, MD, the 1793 home is the former Civil War residence of Union Gen. Benjamin F. Butler, has a jail in the basement, and is a flounder house- an architectural style named for it's resemblance to a fish, with a sloped roof, windowless wall on one side, and all openings on the opposite side. 6bds, 4ba, 2,632sqft, $825k.
The property also includes a finished barn that is currently a separate residence. Isn't that heart sweet?
I didn't expect it to be so pretty inside.
How cozy. Love the beams, exposed brick, and interesting fireplace.
Across the hall there's a spacious dining room.
And, there's also a dinette.
Kind of disappointed in the modern kitchen. It's nice, but this is a 1789 house.
This room is used as a plant room w/a nice chair for reading, tea, etc.
There's a commercial sink in here. Maybe it's for the plants?
Moving down the hall, there's a large full bath.
And, 1 of the 6 bedrooms.
This room has a nice brick wall.
There's a narrow porch along the side.
Look at the cobwebs on the cellar stairs. Strong original wood doors.
This is the jail.
Wow, it looks creepy in there.
The barn is converted to an interesting residence. Note the bell on the pole.
This is unusual. It's like a building within a room. They've got built-in seating, so maybe it was used for a specific purpose.
It's a confusing layout.
There's some shelving here, and sliding glass doors to the kitchen.
Looks like a bar under the stairs.
The spacious kitchen is nice. Love the brick.
As you climb the stairs to the 2nd level, that window gives it a colorful glow.
This would be a bedroom.
And, a bath.
This is bd. #2. I wonder if the layout was planned or just built as they went along, b/c the rooms are so disjointed.
It has a nice little deck on the side.
The house and barn are connected by a courtyard and often go unnoticed amidst the bustling neighborhood. 0.12 acre lot.
I don't usually care for converted barns, but this one is exceptional. The 1869 barn in Woodstock, NY was converted to a home in 2020. It has 4bds, 4ba, 3,172sqft, $1.495m.
There are several entrances, lots of open space, natural light, and levels. The living room has lovely sky blue doors.
It's large and the various living areas are well spread out.
One of the 4 baths is practically in the living room. It's got stained glass walls and a rusty antique tub.
Going from the living room to the kitchen and dining room, the sunken dining room is separated by a chicken wire fence. A glimpse of the floor above is also visible.
This is lovely. A large chandelier hangs above the table, there's a beautiful stained glass window above the sliding glass doors to the pool, and a large rustic fireplace. You can see the large bright kitchen and the room above on the left.
Here, you can see the 3 stairs down.
I didn't expect a retro kitchen with pink appliances. The round kitchen is located in the silo.
All the windows let in lots of light.
Love the appliances and clock.
The layout is a little confusing b/c, as usual, the listing photos are completely mixed up. These appear to be the living room stairs coming up to this level, which is a large bedroom with a sofa and more stairs. I would say that this is the primary bedroom.
The bathroom is mostly open, except for some draperies. The sliding door is probably for the toilet and it also slides across to provide privacy for the tub.
The stairs have swinging doors that open to a catwalk.
It goes over the lower floor to spiral stairs in the silo.
They lead down to another bedroom. This is nice.
This bath is cute- have you ever seen the poop emoji done in stained glass? I also like the avocado wallpaper.
I'm confused by all the stairs and levels.
But, here's another bath with a sliding barn door.
The barn door, may, open to this 3rd level room, the top of the silo. I think that this is supposed to be the 4th bedroom.
Back downstairs a 2nd kitchen has access to the patio & pool.
This is very nice and there's also a large rooftop deck.
I like the roof design. They've got a nice garden out front, and a deck.
I don't usually like barn conversions, but I love this 1803 barn in Easton, PA. 3bds, 3ba, $849K. (Is it just me who gets a pang of jealousy when I see that a listing I like is pending?)
This is nice, it doesn't have that modern farmhouse look.
I think that it looks more Zen & Bohemian.
This is a little awkward, though. Is that a ladder in there?
The kitchen and dining areas are a little barn-ish.
Little heat stove next to the kitchen counter.
They show the kitchen on the floor plan, but this is all that they show of it in the listing.
Cozy family room under the loft.
There's a den up here, and it looks like some art supplies, also.
Unusual bedroom. It looks like it has a sitting room one level up.
Here's a large bath.
And a large bedroom, with a sitting area, facing a patio.
It's on the roof over the garage, so it must be the primary bedroom, b/c it's very private.
Down here is a room that you can actually pull your motorcycle into.
But, this is absolutely glorious. I wonder if they're leaving the plants. Can you imagine stocking this place from scratch?
There's a beautiful deck out here, surrounded by lots of trees and greenery.
Gorgeous grounds.
Another murky koi pond. Don't they filter these things?
I don't usually like barn conversions, but these 1900 barns in Pleasant Valley, NY are so skillfully done, they're really beautiful. 3bds, 2.5ba, 2,820 sq ft, $1.695m.
The wood is so well-preserved. It's light and airy, and I like the lighting fixtures.
The living room is huge and has such a wonderful, unobstructed view.
The living room doors open to a patio.
The old barnwood and doors are all original. It even looks like an original ladder that goes up to an old hayloft.
The thing that does come mind, however, is even though it's big and beautiful, what kind of heating bill do they get in the New York winter?
This is different. They painted the dated cabinets red and whitewashed the wood.
Quite a large kitchen that features a fireplace.
What pretty blue subway tiles.
The primary suite is very large.
The smaller bedroom is so cozy.
The subway tile baths are all so lovely.
The 3rd bedroom is larger and has a pitched ceiling.
This house by the pool is just as beautiful.
It has the cutest little red living room.
What a great poolhouse.
The kitchen cabinets match the red walls in the living room.
And, it has the cutest red bedroom.
It's a guesthouse, but it would be a wonderful place to live in year round.
The Front of the poolhouse.
Here you can see where the main house is in relation to the poolhouse.
