Lots of new #exciting works arriving daily in the #BarnOwlBothy - so if you are looking for a #special #unique #gift you are welcome to come and take a browse this weekend when we will be reopening . Ligia produces #woodwork which is sculptured from life - I asked her for a few words regarding what influenced her latest #artwork . In Ligia words ‘ growing up our family, like many others, had the #willowpattern tableware, so I’ve always associated plates with #blueandwhite white designs. After some research into blue and white pottery from China I noticed that a lot the designs had flowers and repetitive patterns, so for my first ‘#basketry illusion’ I drew up a template which consisted of a circle divided into 120 equal segments, and 14 rounds, as I found that size was a good fit for the rim on the sycamore bowl I was making. Burst of colour with bands of solid transparent and opaque colours with #metallic flecks provides a dynamic contrast with the heat of the colour palette. The gentle arc (about 1" at each end) of the platter gives it a contemporary feel. The #platter is a great piece for serving food , displaying or hanging on the wall.
