FYI to all the people who are questioning if they are autistic or not and taking the AQ (Autism Quotient) tests:
I am using the AQ10 for an experiment as well as asking if people have autism or not and so far only one (1) person who has answered that they do have autism has scores less than a 6+ on the AQ10. To be considered to have autistic traits, you must score at least 6/10 on the AQ10.
Of all the people who answered they do not have autism, they score very low. Like, getting 1s, 2s, and 3s low.
As a late-diagnosed autistic person who did take all these AQ tests while I was questioning if I was autistic or not, I am genuinely surprised by how low non-autistic people are scoring. They really just,,, don't have these traits!
If you're taking the AQs, even the AQ10 which is honestly not very comprehensive of autistic traits, and scoring high enough to be considered for an ASD evaluation, that is serious validation of your autistic traits. It doesn't replace a diagnosis, but there is a reason why it's used as a valid measure for evaluation reccomendations!
TL;DR: Non-autistic people do not score very high on the AQ10 and if you're scoring high on these AQ tests, you definitely have autistic traits.
