The great Tomaso Albinoni’s Concertos, from Opus 9. Previously, I was only aware of Albinoni’s hauntingly beautiful Adagio in G Minor (adapted into a hearty ballad by Lana Fabian here). Later, I discovered in reading that he had been one of many influences on a certain J. S. Bach. But I have not properly listened to his music until the last 2-3 days. Albinoni’s concertos remind me why I enjoy the light, energetic sound of Italian Baroque.

Another favourite composer form childhood, the music of Georg Friedrich Händel has always appealed to me for what Beethoven recognised as drama using simple notes.
