it had been many years since yi jae had seen him last. she hated the miles between them ferociously and sometimes wondered why she couldn’t be with him all the time. normally thought rather petulantly, really. that was, before she would remember that they each had their own lives. distance makes the heart grow fond, people often said. but, as incredibly and indescribably fond of ha-neul as she was, she longed to eliminate the distance between them. long weeks had passed since his last letter, his last phone call, and the silence made her anxious. she could have easily contacted him but her fingers paused over the screen of her phone every time. what would she say? i miss you? saying it without anything else attached seemed silly to her. come visit? he was a busy man living his life, just as she was a woman with a life of her own. it was unfair of her to ask him to drop everything just to see her.
so she waited. something she absolutely despised. yi jae worked, played, and slept through the terrible longing to see her love. but the longer she waited, the more agitated she became. soon enough, she tired of waiting. if he would not contact her first, she would have to quench her longing with physical contact. barely remembering to make proper arrangements and clutching the slip of paper with his address scrawled on it, she packed a bag, hopped into her car, and made the drive to see him.
hours passed without her knowledge and, soon enough, she was parking in front of his apartment complex. yi jae sat in her car for a few minutes before she finally emerged and made her way inside, bag slung over her shoulder. she took the elevator up, fingers tapping her leg impatiently as she did, and rushed out the doors and straight to his apartment when it stopped on his floor. the woman didn’t hesitate to knock loudly, confidently. then came the worst part. waiting. // @barredfrom
