Anon, you a real one and know what’s up. I was wondering if anyone was gonna ask about Barry fics! I’ve been trying to brainstorm and cook something up, so if you have any suggestions don’t hesitate to send them in!
Censored swearing, implying of killing? If those make you uncomfortable please don't read!!
(Y/N) carefully flicked the lipstick brush against her lips, gliding the deep red gloss across. She pressed her lips together and smirked, fixing the messy platinum blonde wig. The phone besides her started to vibrate, humming as it shook. She glanced down.
Hank is calling…
She let out a low hum herself, plucking it up and clicking answer.
“How am I- OH! He-Hello (Y/N)! Just the beautiful woman I wanted to talk to..” Hank tried to charm. (Y/N), not buying any of it, hummed once again, rolling her eyes.
“Cut the bullsh*t Hank. Why’d you call me? I’m about to head out now.” She told him while fixing the tight dress and applying more blush.
“Yeah… about that..”
“..did plans change?”
“Something like that..”
“Well spit it out.”
“Okay… So, you remember Barry?”
“How could I forget, f*cking prick.” (Y/N) scoffed, rolling her eyes. She heard a wince on the other end of the line.
“Okay. So I might’ve accidentally… assigned you and Barry the same target..”
Silence, on both ends for a moment. Calm before the storm maybe. She put down her makeup brush with a harsh tap.
“You did WHAT?”
“LISTEN LISTEN!! It was a mistake!! I didn’t mean to! I just forgot I assigned you first!”
“Well tell him to F*CK OFF and find a new hit!” She snapped.
“...he’s already waiting for you. I already told him and he agreed to work with you, so I suggest you just. Suck it up and work with him!” Hank offered excitedly. She sucked in a breath.
“Fine fine, the plan is still the same, correct? I still have to… seduce the target and sh*t?” She asked, putting on her red high heels that matched everything else her strapless red satin dress that hugged her body tightly.
“Yep! But you’ll have to meet up with Barry before you enter, you’ll have to explain the plan in more detail.” You could practically hear Hank smiling.
“..Alright, let’s just get this sh*t over with.” She snarled before pressing hang up and putting her phone in her purse.
(Y/N) walked with confidence to the exit of the lobby. She saw an awkward tall male shifting around. A black cap on his head and a gray hoodie covering his top half. Her eyes met his and she could visibly see him gulp. She rolled her eyes as she stopped in front of him, placing a hand on her hip.
“(Y-Y/N)- What are you wearing??” Barry questioned, his eyes wide as they searched her body.
“It’s called a disguise, Berkman. Now,” (Y/N) leaned up, taking off his cap and unzipping his jacket, taking it off for him as he just stood frozen. “There. We’re going to a club, not a funeral.. Yet.”

“Mm okay” Y/N smiles a bit confusing Barry. “What?”
“Really? Is it?”
“Yeah. It is.” Y/N smiles standing on her tippy toes to kiss Barry’s cheek as he instantly dropped his bag bringing her in his embrace making her laugh before kissing her.
“Mm...” He parts smiling at his beautiful wife. “Now I gotta go”
“Okay, I love you”
“I love you more”
“Oh? You really want to get into that Barry Berkman?”
“I’d love to, but you already know how dedicated I am to you.” Barry grabbed his bag opening the door. “Especially the night I said I do.” He smiles as Y/N couldn’t help herself kissing him once more when she met him at the door. “I’ll see you later”
“Happy Anniversary Mr. Berkman”
“Happy Anniversary Mrs. Berkman” Barry smiles sneaking in one more kiss before leaving taking on the job.
After getting in position and waiting a while, Barry kept checking his watch seeing this is going to be longer than expected. He took his phone out opening Y/N’s messages.
Y/N stood in front of the door mirror in the bedroom checking herself out. She got dressed in a burgundy semi laced body con dress expecting to make their anniversary dinner when her phone binged.
Barry 💞: Hey baby, I’m sorry. This looks like it’s going to take a while.
Y/N: So no anniversary dinner?
Barry 💞: I’m sorry
Y/N: Oh it’s okay
Barry 💞: Okay, I love you
Y/N: I love you more Barry 🥰
Barry laughs a bit as he continues to stake out. It’s extremely boring but he does it to protect more than just himself.
Y/N lays down in their bed tapping the side of her phone thinking as she eventually kicks her heels off before pulling herself more on the bed. An idea popped up in her head.
Y/N: You’re missing out baby
After sending that Barry didn’t check it which lead to Y/N sending another. This time being a photo of what she was wearing and she positioned herself in a way that when Barry opened the message.
“Fuck...” Barry tells himself as he couldn’t look away from how stunning his wife is.
Barry 💞: Will you being wearing that when I get home?
Y/N: Mmm. I don’t know, maybe. Maybe not
Y/N: You’ll have to wait and see
Barry 💞: Jesus.
Y/N smiles sitting up a bit in their bed biting her lip at a thought.
Barry 💞: Baby...I’d really like to see you in that dress when I get back
Y/N: I know, but for now you’ll just get pictures 😋
Y/N: [inserts 3 pictures]
Barry opened the pictures and all he really wanted to do was be there. He. Really. Wanted to be there. She’s pushing him. Distracting him by wearing the dress in a more revealing angle, the next one showing the dress being half off her person with her arms covering her breasts, and the third one with the dress completely off not giving a damn. Knowing for a fact she killed Barry with that last one. He shifts in his position crossing his legs as this was filling in mind more than the job.
Barry 💞: Baby
Y/N: Hm? 😊
Barry 💞: You’re killing me here
Y/N: That’s no good
Y/N: I want you here baby
Barry 💞: Yeah?
Y/N: It’s no fun working alone...
“Shit...what are you planning woman” Barry takes in a deep breath seeing her typing.
Y/N: Imagining you is nothing like the real thing
Y/N: I miss you already
Barry 💞: Anything specifically?
Great job ending yourself Barry
Y/N: You already know I miss all of you
Y/N: And I do mean...all of you
Y/N: Your hands caressing every inch of my body
Y/N: Your lips against my neck
Y/N: boy...don’t get started on the wonders your mouth can do Barry
“Jesus fucking Christ—“ Barry tells himself about to respond when he heard a car door close in front of the place he supposed to be staking out. “Fuck”
Y/N laughs a bit staring at the messages. “I think I killed my husband” she says jokingly before setting her phone down getting out of bed.
A moment passes by as Barry finally comes back home finding Y/N step out of her bedroom in one of his shirts and shorts. Barry drops his stuff by door closing it before walking over to Y/N.
“It would’ve been nice to see you in that dress when I got back” Barry sighs resting his hands on her hips as Y/N smiles wrapping her arms around his neck. “But Y’know. I don’t think you’ll be wearing anything in the next couple of minutes”
“Oh?” Y/N smirks feeling Barry pick her up holding her up by her thighs as she wraps her legs around his waist. “What are you gonna do Barry?”
“Well you shouldn’t have done what you did while I was working......very distracting.” Barry states laying her on their bed towering her. “I’m gonna show you...how much trouble you’re in for doing that” he smirks kissing her once soon moving his lips to her neck gently leaving kisses before suddenly biting making Y/N shift from under him.
“Shit...” Y/N moans trying to control herself when Barry runs his hands up and down her body. “Show me baby”
There was an insistent knocking at the door. It wasn't rushed, it felt solemn, remorseful, but it was persistent.
It was eleven p.m. and Emily was about to got to bed but the knocking wasn't stopping.
She opened the door and saw Barry, hair and clothes wet, it had already stopped raining about thirty minutes. He was looking at her but not entirely, it was like she was see-through but still left a trace of her body and where it was — Barry? — he gave one step forward and kissed her, she met him almost without thinking. She was trying to kiss him softly but his tongue pushed pass her lips as he locked her between the wall and his body, his hand gripping her throat a bit too tightly at times. He kissed her hungrily, rough and fast, with burning passion or anger, she couldn't tell. She let it happen for a little bit, too confused to stop it, but then he closed the door and guided his hand under her pants. She stopped him for a second by turning her head slightly to the right and parting her lips — What are you doing?
— You know exactly what I'm doing. Do you want it or not? — it wasn't him. Sure it was his voice, but it didn't really sounded like him. It sounded dry, determined, angry. It wasn't the Barry she knew, it seemed to be another man wearing his face, using his voice. She looked at him, almost dumbfounded, they weren't his sweet caring eyes, it didn't seem like him but this Barry wanted her, so she nodded. Because it was still him, just a part she didn't know.
He kissed her again, pressing her further against the wall, biting her lips harder, kissing her rougher, telling her to go to the bed. And she did, she went to her bedroom, he followed quietly behind her, almost like a shadow. She looked at him once they were both next to the bed, she hoped for a softer kiss, for a lovely word but he just pushed her to the mattress and started to unbuckle his belt. She stared at him, a bit confused, her brain was still catching up to everything, they were about to fuck, just fuck; no feelings, no talking. And maybe it was just half of what she wanted, but at least it was something.
He was undressed but she wasn't and when his cold blue eyes looked at her she realized she should've at least had taken off her pants. He watched her undress, waiting. She was on her underwear and he stopped waiting. He got between her legs and moved the panties out of his way, burying himself in one stride, making her whine on the sudden pressure — Fuck.
He looked at her with empty eyes, seeing the mix between pleasure and pain in her eyes, feeling a resemblance of... something, a distant echo of it, and he fucked her harder. He heard her moan and saw her twist on herself but he wasn't chasing her pleasure, he was chasing a feeling, any feeling. Even if he was hard, he couldn't quite feel anything. He kept thrusting against her faster, deeper and harder, he kept hearing her moan and plead his name but he didn't feel it, the satisfaction, the rush, the love, nothing. He couldn't feel anything.
But to Emily was completely different, she felt everything, she felt the love she had for Barry and the guilt about Sally all in one, she felt the regret of just being fucked and nothing more. She felt the knot in her belly grow tighter and felt his hands burning hot on her waist and his eyes burning with cold on her body. She moaned and pleaded, and then she felt him stop — Turn around. — he said and she wanted to but her body wasn't quite there yet, so he grew impatient — Now. — he ordered and, seeing her nod, he made her do it himself. He guided her hips to be to his comfort and trusted inside her without warning one more time and he felt it, the stimuli, the pleasure, so he went further in.
— Fuck! Fuck, Barry! — she whined. Barry looked at her, her body shaking, her face against the mattress and her eyes closed. He didn't feel anything, he had liked her ever since they met. He had felt his heart fluster by watching her laugh, break when he saw her cry and burn when she was with someone else, but, right at that moment, looking at her face in pleasure because of him, he couldn't feel a thing. Maybe he would once the anger and rush was over, or maybe he wouldn't feel anything for good this time.
He picked upon his previous pace, having her call his name, having them both moan before they were both done. He didn't let her look at him, having her face against the mattress, but he did look at her. She looked vulnerable, open, exposed, just like someone who's begging to live, except she wasn't afraid, but she would be if she knew. She would be if she had been with him just a few hours earlier.
It took her some time to came to her senses but when she did she saw Barry buckling his pants. She didn't say a thing as she saw him put on his shirt and leave without even looking at her.
And she felt her heart break with the sound of the main door closing. She agreed to it because she hoped that maybe it would mean something to him, anything, but now she felt more lonely, empty and broken than she had ever felt before. She let go of her tears and tried to do the same with him.
A/N: Thank you so much @haderberkman for this request! I love this song!
Request: Idk if you’re still taking requests for Folklore inspired imagines but if you are, could I request one for the song The 1? It’s one of my favorites from the album. Thank you so much ❤️🥰
Pairing: Barry Berkman x Reader
You sit on your suitcase outside of LAX, reading text messages as you wait to get picked up. This is your first time back in Los Angeles since you moved away. It’s a quick work trip to take a few meetings, but you’re thrilled to be back home even if it was just for a couple of days. You lived in the city for years taking acting classes and working odd jobs. Then you got your big break: a supporting role on a daytime soap opera. There was only one catch, it filmed in New York. Not wanting to miss such a big opportunity, you packed up and moved across the country. You left the acting class, friends and your relationship behind.
“Y/N!” you hear a familiar voice call your name.
You look up from your phone and see your ex-boyfriend, Barry, step out of his car. You jump to your feet, grab your bag and walk towards him. Barry’’s opening the trunk of his car when you reach him.
“Barry! Hey!”
You and Barry embrace. The two of you dated for several months before you left for New York. The split was mutual and amicable. You were moving and he needed to stay behind in Los Angeles. You agreed to end things rather than trying to make things work long distance. But you remained friends. You and Barry go way back to when he first moved to LA. You had been friends and scene partners in acting class long before your first date. Even though you broke up, you still loved each other and wanted to stay in each other’s lives.
“It’s good to see you,” Barry says quietly into your ear.
“Good to see you too,” you softly reply.
You pull away from the hug, but remain close to Barry. You’ve always felt safe in his arms. You forgot how much you missed that until now.
“You’re staying at Sally’s right?” Barry asks as he puts your suitcase in the trunk
“Yep,” you nod. You wish you kept your old apartment but you had to give it up when you moved.
You and Barry get in the car and he starts driving to Sally’s place.
“I’ve been watching your show. You’re really great!” Barry tells you.
“Thank you,” you smile, trying not to blush.
That compliment means a lot coming from Barry. You’ve both seen each other grow as actors when you took Mr. Cousineau’s class together.
“But I gotta know… are you ever going to find out that your husband was pushed down an elevator shaft and that you’ve been sleeping with his identical twin cousin this entire time?”
You start laughing. You loved your job but talking about your character’s storylines out loud sometimes sounded ridiculous. And Barry asked you in such a serious way, he seems super invested.
“I guess you’re going to have to watch to find out,” you tease.
“Don’t worry, I will. I need to know what happens next,” Barry laughs, and then, “Besides work, how’s New York?”
“I love it,” your entire face lights up, “I miss LA a lot but New York has been an adventure. I’m trying new things, saying yes instead of no. It's been good for me. I’m a different person out there but I like that.. If that makes any sense.”
“I understand, that’s how I felt when I moved to LA and started taking the acting class,” Barry empathizes.
“A few weeks ago I was walking to the subway and I thought I saw you at the bus stop. It wasn’t you obviously, but I don’t know it got me thinking… what would New York Barry be like?”
“I sometimes think about that too,” Barry quietly admits to you.
When you were first offered the job, there was a brief moment that Barry thought about going with you. Then Fuches roped him back into his old job, forcing Barry to stay in LA and work with the Chechens. You knew nothing about it and Barry intended to keep it that way. He couldn’t go to New York because he was afraid that the Chechens would follow you two there. Barry just wanted to keep you safe.
“So are you, uh, seeing anybody?” Barry asks shyly.
“I met a girl on Tinder and took her home. She was fun but nothing serious. I actually really like being single at the moment,” you answer.
“As long as you're happy, that’s all that matters,” Barry nods.
“I am,” you smile, “What about you? Are you seeing anyone?”
Barry shakes his head, “No. I’ve been busy with class and work…”
“Are you still working at Lululemon?” you ask.
Barry shrugs and nods his head. You study Barry’s face, trying to read it. He masks his emotions well, you both loved and hated that about him. You admired it from an acting standpoint, but it frustrated you when you were actually dating.
“How’s that going?” you raise an eyebrow.
“It’s fine. The manager has been giving me more hours lately. I actually have to go in later to help bring a shipment in,” Barry lies convincingly.
He hates lying to you but you couldn’t know the truth. As soon as Barry drops you off at Sally’s, he has to race across the city to carry out a hit for the Chechens. Fuches forced Barry’s hand, he really didn’t want to do this. He’d rather spend more time with you.
“Well it’s good that you’re getting more hours. That must mean your manager likes you, right?” you try reassuring him.
“Yeah, uh, I guess so…”
You and Barry keep talking and catching up. It’s been months since you’ve seen him but it feels as if no time had passed at all. The chemistry is still there. Before you know it, you arrive at Sally’s. Barry parks the car across the street. You both get out of the car and he grabs your suitcase from the trunk. He carries the suitcase as you both walk towards the door.
“Thanks again for picking me up, Barry. It was really sweet of you to offer,” you give him a small smile.
“It’s no problem. I just wanted to make sure you got in okay,” Barry smiles back.
When you reach Sally’s front door, Barry gives you your suitcase. You stand on your tiptoes and give him a small kiss on the cheek. You pull Barry into a hug.
“Barry, I think if you went to New York with me… you could’ve been the one. I understand why you didn’t want to uproot your whole life, but-”
“Y/N…” he tries.
“Sometimes I wish it would’ve been you,” you sigh.
Barry’s face drops. His mind is racing. There’s so much he wants to say at this moment. He still loves you. It wasn’t his choice to stay in LA. If it was up to him he would’ve moved to New York with you. Hell, he’d go anywhere with you. He thinks you’re the one and when it comes to you, it’s never off the table. But he can’t tell you any of that.
"Drunk confessions" and "best friends to lovers" with Barry please?
Words: 1,378
Warnings: None
He knew it. You were having a tough time. It was the only reason why you were drinking this much and at the bar by yourself. The whole class was here having a good time and although you seemed like nothing was bothering you, as if you yourself were having a good time as well, he knew you weren’t drinking for funsies, you were drinking to get something off your mind.
He was concerned, of course. You were the only one that he befriended that accepted what he does for a living. You never went to the cops, you never looked at him differently, you never screamed or ran for your life, you only sat there in his apartment listening as you fixed him up. After that he didn’t see or hear from you for the next couple of days and it scared him to death. It scared him that you would rat on him, it scared him about the idea of Fuches finding out and putting you on his hit list. Then, when he came back to class, you sat next to him and talked to him as if nothing happened.
From there he knew you were to be his best friend for the rest of his life and when he thought about it, he never really had a best friend before.
He finally took a seat next to as you asked for another drink. You were swaying in your seat and that’s when Barry realized how much you were really guzzling down drinks.
“Y/N” He startled you as you didn't realize that he took a seat next to you. You didn’t even feel him brush by.
“B-Barry! Jesus, you scared the hell outta me…"
“Sorry…” He gave you a moment to get yourself together. “Are you okay, Y/N?”
“Hmm? Oh yeah, yeah, I’m fine.”
“Y/N.” Barry turns his body towards you giving you his full attention. You take a quick glance at him from the side but his blue worried eyes made you not want to look at him. He knew you too well and it only added to your misery. “Is something going on? Did something happen?” He had a protective air around him with his face stern and concentrated. It only made you feel worse. He looked out for you and he knew if you weren’t yourself. All the more reason to keep drinking.
“What? N-no, nothing's happened…”
"Then what's up with the drinking?"
"W-what? I j-just want a few drinks. What's so bad about it?" You turn away from him with a scoff as you hold on to your beer tighter as your shoulders tensed up.
You felt it all the time. The sense of yearning. It hurt although he gave you no reason to. Its the thought of what could be that always gets to you. Barry suddenly became the one thing you thought about all the time even if you didn’t want to. You overthought every little thing, trying to find reasons behind actions that possibly mean nothing.
What you were dealing with is a lot of overthinking and a lot of over-feeling.
"Nothing, it's just-"
"It's just that y-you don't want me h-having fun on my own, huh?" You say in an exasperated tone. "I don't n-need you around here-around me to h-have a good time, Barry." Of course that wasn't the case but you couldn't even bring yourself to admit that you just want to be around him all the time in any way you can because if you did you would break down again. And you weren't drunk enough to let that slip.
"I-I can go dancing. W-without you." The moment you said that you try to get out of your seat with your foot pushing you off the ground only to slip up and almost trip over. Barry instantly grabs you around your waist and a hand holding your arm.
"Alright, I'm taking you home." Barry states as he picks you back up on your feet and leads you to the exit. You try to argue with him but you didn't have the energy to fight him off. You knew you were drunk but you didn't realize how bad it was.
Barry opens the door and sits you down on the passenger seat. You were aware of his proximity as he tried to put on your seatbelt. He was so close you could have placed your hand on his head, raking your fingers through his hair and pulled him to rest his head on your chest. You almost did, raising your hand for a second until he pulled away. You just laid your head against the rest.
The car ride home was quiet. The street lights that had that orange glow came through the windows. If this were a different time under different circumstances, this would have been something you would have fully enjoyed. Barry driving, the windows down, wind blowing through your hair as music softly played in the background.
It wasn't a time you wished it would be. This was a time where you would make a fool of yourself again in front of him.
Once Barry arrived to your place he turned to only see you idle, eyes closed in a small frown. Barry gets out to your side of the car, unbuckling you and then nudging you awake. "Y/N...Y/N, come on, we're here." You groan and blink your eyes only for you to squint them. You try to get yourself out but Barry help carry most of your weight to your door.
Once Barry gets inside, he takes the initiative to carry you the rest of the way to your bed. He felt so lovely with him holding you as you snuggled your head against his neck with your arms wrapped around him. You made sure to remember this and keep the sensations you were feeling close to your heart. He felt so warm in his sweater and comforting with how secured he was holding you.
Barry laid you down in bed, taking your shoes off and getting you settled for the night. He then goes to sit by you as you only prepare yourself to sleep. "Y/N…"
"Hmm…"
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Hmm...if I do, it'll only make things worse…" That got Barry's attention.
"Someone threatening you? I can help you, you know that, right?" There was a tightness in his voice as he said that. That only made your heart swell.
"I know but the only one that's threatening me is me."
"W-what do you mean?" Barry asks confused as he places a hand on top of yours. That statement worried him.
"If I say how much I like you, I'd kick my own ass…" you whispered out with a small chuckle at the end. You knew what you did and at the moment you could only view it as another funny joke.
Barry was quiet for a moment but you didn't think anything of it. If this friendship was ruined then so be it. You were just tired of keeping it in.
"How much do you like me?"
You smile in your sleepy state and Barry only felt himself get warm at the sight. You looked at peace with what you were about to say and it only made him feel so overwhelmed. "A whole lot...a lot more than I should as a friend…"
That overwhelmed him even more because he didn't think there was any way someone could tolerate him let alone like him once knowing what he does on the side. It overwhelmed him about the fact that this is someone he cared about deeply and there was a potential that harm could come their way.
"Yeah...I think I do too…" You only chuckled at his words as you finally pass out. Barry takes a long good look at you before he leans in gives you a kiss on your forehead while moving some strands of hair away from your face.
He gets up, turns the lamp off and heads out. He'll talk about this when you feel better. For now, he was going to live the night as a win for once in his life.
A/N: I just finished the entire show of Barry in one week and I already love Bill Hader so I just HAD to write this.
“You can call me whenever you want.”
“Is this okay?”
“I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
Barry groaned as he heard his cell-phone ring just as his head hit the pillow. He’d just gotten back from another dispute with Fuches, icing his hand on the way back in the car as he sped away from his hotel. He was definitely about to hang up on whoever was calling him at this ungodly hour, but he saw a number that wasn’t already in his contacts - but it was the same area code.
“Hello?” He greeted with caution after he pressed the accept button, sitting up in the bed slightly.
“Hey, is this Barry?” Came a soft yet scratchy voice over the phone, he could tell he recognized it though.
“Uh... can I ask who’s speaking?”
“Shit, sorry. This is uh... (Y/n) from class. I hope I got the right number.” He smiled at the mention of your name, though he was curious how you got his number in the first place.
“Oh, (Y/n)... uh, hi.” Suddenly his throat was dry and all words left his brain, feeling himself becoming flustered.
“Hey uh... this is awkward I really don’t know why I called.” You didn’t know Barry that well and you got his number from Sally since they work in a lot of scenes together. You didn’t have anyone else to call. “Sorry to call you so late at night.”
“That’s okay.” Barry replied, rubbing his eyes slightly, wanting to talk to you but his body attempting to refuse. “What’s up, are you okay?” He asked, sitting up further in his bed and propping himself up on his elbow.
“Yeah I mean... I’m just...” You wanted to change the subject, but your brain was so sleep-deprived, you could barely form other words. “I can’t sleep, I guess.” You admitted and turned over to see your clock - it was three in the morning and you just called someone you barely knew. Suddenly filled with regret and slight shame, you began to ramble. “But I mean... I don’t know why I called you it’s so early and you should probably get some sleep so I’m sorry for-”
“Hey, (Y/n). Don’t worry about it. I’ve had my bouts with insomnia to.” He tried to soothe you, suddenly feeling like he’s known you for twenty years, and he felt the need to console you. “You can call me whenever you want.” You couldn’t help but smile at his reassurance, the first almost stranger you call is nicer than anyone in your contacts.
“Thanks, Barry. I really appreciate that.”
“So, what’s on your mind? Just can’t sleep or is something going on?” You could cry at how concerned he already was for you. But you couldn’t find yourself getting so easily attached, especially because not much good can come from late night phone calls.
“I guess I’m just... yeah I can’t sleep and...” You hesitated before answering honestly - the worst thing that could happen is things are a bit awkward between you and Barry in class the next day. “...my partner and I, we broke up like a week ago and it’s hard having to adjust to that loneliness.”
Barry sat up, “shit, I’m sorry, I didn’t know that.” You held onto that brief comfort you felt just from the sound of his voice. It was silent over the line for a couple of seconds before he asked, “do you need someone to be with right now? Like in person?”
You weren’t sure you could read his intentions right as you barely knew the guy, but you figured he was nice and trustworthy enough just based on observing him in class. Also, you were literally desperate to even get 5 hours of sleep. “I don’t want to like... call you over at three in the morning-”
“I’ll be there in a few minutes.” He said, and you heard the line go dead as he hung up, obviously he was trying to sound cool and you giggled at the attempt. You put your phone down and rolled over in your bed, suddenly getting butterflies in your stomach. You barely knew this man, he could be a serial killer for all you knew - then again, serial killer company is better than no company at all.
You jumped a bit when you felt your phone vibrate again, and not hesitating, you picked it back up. “Hello?” You asked.
“Hey, I uh... I might need your address.”
-
It wasn’t long before you heard a knock at your front door, since you both stayed so close to the class it was a quick ride. You were expecting his arrival so you just kinda rushed to the door, swinging it open with a certain kind of energy that scared him. You noticed the jump and tried to laugh it off, as your entire body was tired but your mind was moving like a Ferarri.
“Sorry!” You blurted, noticing his obvious pajama bottoms, messed up hair and long sleeve t-shirt. He did literally just roll out of bed.
“It’s okay.” He sort of stood there awkwardly, and you felt all of your previous confidence leave your body in one hard punch.
“Do you uh... wanna come in?” You asked, rubbing the back of your neck and seeing that it was kinda cold outside, and you gestured to let him in.
“Yes, please.” He laughed, rubbing his arms jokingly as he stepped into your house, giving your living room a quick look-over. Your home was simple and cozy, just like you seemed to be, he didn’t know - guess he would have to get to know you first. “Should I take my shoes off or...?” He asked, already beginning to take his shoes off, noticing your lack thereof.
“Sure, you can just put them near the corner.” You waved it off, giving him a slight smile and walking towards the kitchen. “Do you want anything to drink?” You asked, grabbing two glasses out of your cabinet and placing them on the counter.
“Uh... can I have a glass of water, please?” You nodded, noticing he clearly hated asking for things but once he saw you gladly get it for him he relaxed his shoulders. “So, how do you feel now? Any better?” He asked, standing there awkwardly and rubbing his forearms.
“Not really, I mean it’s only been like 10 minutes.” You laughed, grabbing some water bottles out of the closet and pouring into the glass with ice. “It happens a lot, lately I just haven’t been able to sleep, you know with Ryan... and everything.” You handed him the glass of water and he gladly took it.
“Thank you.” He tried to relax, but you looked even more beautiful than he remembered, and he felt himself becoming more nervous around you. “So...”
“So.” You confirmed, taking a sip of your water and trying to alleviate the awkward situation. “Do you want to... go upstairs? We can like... watch a movie and talk until eventually... possibly one of us falls asleep.” He smiled, his heart skipping a beat as he couldn’t read your intentions as well as he thought, but he felt himself being more and more drawn to you.
He hesitated a bit, taking a small sip of his glass. “Yeah, sure that would be... that would be cool.” He was determined to stay up for you, possibly help you fall asleep if he could help it.
After a couple of minutes of flipping around on the TV, you found something light you could both settle on. He sat on your bed kind of far away from you, not knowing what to do, even though he’s normally not this awkward. “I don’t bite.” You teased, patting the bed beside you and he smiled, scooting a bit closer to you. “You’re good with this movie right?”
“Of course. As long as you are.” He smiled down at you, deciding to come a little closer, your shoulders were touching at this point. Not that it was anything remotely romantic or scandalous, especially since you would probably get to know each other until one of you fell asleep - it would probably end up being him. “So, why did you want to take Mr. Cousineau’s class?” He asked, breaking the ice and shifting against your comfortable bed.
“It started off as something to do I guess. I’ve never been very good with like... being on stage or confrontation in general. So I just wanted to get better at being sociable and I thought a theatre community would do that for me. And it has, I’ve met a lot of great people. But I don’t really want to be an actress, y’know?” He just smiled at you the entire time you were talking, and he discovered that he loved to listen to you voice - there was something so soothing about it and the way you talked so passionately. “What about you?”
When you turned your head toward him, he turned his own gaze away, pretending he was staring at the TV the whole time. “I don’t know, I was just drawn to it and I was bored of my old job. It seemed like it would be cool but I’ll admit it really freaked me out at first.” He chuckled, looking down at his thumbs and picking at the skin around his fingernails. You took notice to it, and put your hand over his, detaching his left hand from his right and prevented further cuts.
He found himself flinching lightly at the contact, put he didn’t pull away, he just felt a sense of gratefulness fill his chest as someone actually took notice to it. “Sorry, I just... I do the same thing.” You revealed, showing the skin uplifted on your dried skin, and he just sort of smiled at your hands, gently rubbing the skin of your thumb with his own. “What was your old job?” You asked, pulling your hands away with a slight blush tinting your cheeks.
“Auto-parts.” He said, hoping you would lose interest, but your face resembled confusion and interest. “Fix things, y’know... deliveries and stuff.” You smiled at the way he gestured with his hands, but he took notice and put his hands back down. “Did you uh... have a job before? Or do you?”
“I’m a bartender actually, you actually don’t need that much training to be one in LA and I decided it would be kinda fun. Except for some of the creeps that come in just to stare at me, y’know?” He laughed and grimaced at the same time, and noticed that you rubbed your eyes.
“There you go! See, a symptom of being tired.”
“Yeah, yeah. Keep talking about your old job I might fall asleep.” You teased, shoving his shoulder lightly and he just smiled at you, rolling his eyes. “Thanks for coming over.” You said after a brief moment of silence, and you both made eye contact as he smiled at you. You could’ve sworn he looked at your lips briefly, but before you could react or question him he replied:
“Of course, anytime.” He nodded, smiling at you one more time before turning his attention back to the tv in front of your bed. You kept your attention on him for a bit longer, noticing the way the reflection from the TV danced in his blue eyes. You smiled, stretching out your legs a bit and rolling your neck, and he noticed from your slumped shoulders and droopy eyes that your body was begging for sleep. He noticed your body moving to the side a bit while your attention was on the TV, so he moved his shoulder a bit to catch your head.
You were surprised at the sudden contact, but when you nuzzled against it he decided to wrap his arm around your shoulder. You could tell he was stiff and hesitant, “Is this okay?” He asks gently as you move a bit closer to get comfortable.
“Yeah...” You soothed, nuzzling closer on his shoulder and bringing your legs closer to your chest. “Yeah, this is okay.” At your words, you felt his body relax, and he found himself leaning into you as well, placing his head gently on top of yours. “This is okay...” You felt your mind wandering, drifting in and out of wanting to sleep and the stimulating thought of staying awake.
Barry reached a hand up and placed it on top of your head, letting his fingers stroke the locks gently, his other hand stroking your shoulder and playing with the fabric of your shirt. You shifted and smiled, closing your eyes and nuzzling just a bit closer into Barry’s chest. He felt his stomach flutter for a moment, and he continued his motions, attempting to keep his breathing calm and the rest of his body still as to not wake you.
The next thing you knew the sun was shining through the curtains, and you groaned gently as the beams penetrated your vision. “Fuck.” You mumbled, bringing a hand up to shield your eyes and rubbing the sleep from them. When you moved, you realized the weight on you, and you gasped as you saw Barry still above you, sleeping soundly.
Your shock wore off and you smiled as he shifted, nearly jolting up at the sound of your gasp. “What?” He mumbled, picking his head up, pain shooting through his neck as he groaned. “Are you okay?” His eyes were squinted as he also saw you forgot to close the curtains.
“I’m okay.” You confirmed, missing the warmth as Barry removed his arm from around your shoulder. “Hi-ya, stud.” You teased, shoving him gently as he stretched and smiled at your groggy uppity-ness.
“Morning.” He mumbled, running his fingers through his bed-head which worked to mess it up even more. “Sleep good?” He asked, massaging his neck.
“Yeah, actually. First couple of hours in a while.” You nodded, getting up out of the bed to close the curtains more as you both adjusted to the light. “Thank you for staying, really. I can’t thank you enough.” You smiled, walking back over to the bed and flopping down on the mattress. “I owe you.”
“You don’t owe me.” He said, smiling down at your form. “Really, it was my pleasure. The company was nice.”
You nodded, biting your lip as you sat back up - your general tiredness was waring off but you still needed coffee in your system, and soon. “Come on, I’ll make you some coffee and we can get more acquainted, I want to know who slept in my house last night.” You joked, taking his hand and dragging him out to the living room - clearly he was not a morning person.
“So Barry, tell me about yourself.” You inquired after you put the coffee maker on, the hum of the bubbles adding to the limited background noise.
