Have ye ever just watched a new anime that gave ye so much deja vu only to find out later it's a reboot of the same anime ye watched decades ago?
That happened to me.

Anime & Jazz #16: Bartender

Started watching Bartender: Glass of God while I eat some rice then I will actually officially absolutely be drinking tonight.

Anime I watched in 2024: Part 8
And the anime year in review continues! For those of you who don't know (but somehow, inexplicably, care): I'm going through the anime I watched this year in the order I watched them, and briefly giving my thoughts on each one. To see the previous installments, check my 2024 year in review tag.
Moving right along:
Anime #36: Pumpkin Scissors
It seems like Gonzo studio's anime comes in two flavors: rips out your heart and leaves you thinking about it for days, or extremely uninteresting and difficult to get through. This one falls into the latter category. And the title is based on a really stupid metaphor for corruption.
Anime #37: Gosick
This was a bit like The Mystic Archives of Dantalian. Both in terms of plot and in terms of how I felt about it. Much like with Dalian, I respect Victorique's desire to read books and eat sweets. Is that like, a character archetype in anime?
Anime #38: Gunslinger Stratos
Don't watch this one. Didn't actively dislike it, but didn't really get anything out of it.
Anime #39: Desert Punk
This one was like...Mad Max meets Looney Tunes? If you like crude, slapstick comedy and asshole characters then check this one out. Otherwise, you can skip it.
Anime #40: Bartender
I watched the original, not the remake. I've mentioned before on this blog that I love anime that shows in-depth knowledge of a single topic. And this one fits the bill! This doesn't have a super dramatic story or anything, but you can tell it was made with love. Even if you're not an alcohol connoisseur, I think this can help you appreciate bartending as a sort of art form.
That's all for part 8! Part 9 is...on the way! Yep. Definitely on the way.
Comienza el fin de la primavera.
Bartender: ⭐⭐⭐
Watching BARTENDER: Glass of God. Some of you will say, "but CJ, you don't drink. Why are you watching this" to which I would respond, you're correct, and not only do I not drink, I've literally never drank in my life. I have no frame of reference for anything that happens in this show. It compels me though 😂
