barty was obsessed with sirius and sirius is very annoyed by it (inconveniences him) so he's ranting to james about it &barty is obviously listening because he's a stalker and james tells sirius once (1 time) to "cut barty some slack" and that barty "isn't that bad" and barty falls irrevocably and hopelessly in love with him
