September 27, 2023 - Spectacled Barwing (Actinodura ramsayi) These barwings are found in and around mountain forests in parts of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and southern China. Foraging in pairs and small flocks, they probably eat invertebrates and some plant foods, though the details of their diet are not known. Little is known about their breeding behavior, but one of their nests was described as a cup constructed from roots with feathery material from the creeper it was built in on the exterior. It had a clutch of two eggs.
the blue-winged minla is a small passerine bird found in southeast asia. primarily insectivorous, they also occasionally feed on berries and seeds, especially during winter months. they are social birds that are frequently found in large groups, often feeding in sizable mixed-species flocks. the sexes do not differ, both sporting bright blue wings, although some populations in the southernmost range have more muted colorations.
Photo of the Day – The Rusty-fronted Barwing (Actinodura egertoni) is a species in the laughingthrush family found in south-eastern Asia. The species is found in temperate forests and moist montane forests, where it will forage for insects, berries and seeds in the undergrowth and forest edges.

Found in parts of China, India, and Myanmar, these barwings live mostly in mountain forests. Foraging alone, in pairs, or in small groups, and often joining mixed-species flocks, they mostly eat insects and mollusks, along with fruits, seeds, and nectar. Little is known about their breeding behavior.
