If you are looking to spend a few hours amidst nature but want to avoid the maddening weekend rush to be safe during the pandemic, Mandaragiri Hills should be your next stop. I must admit I never heard of the place before. I came across it a few days back while searching offbeat places near Bangalore. I am surprised the place has so many things to offer. A fairly easy hike, a lake by the hills, and a few uniquely structured Jain temples with a dash of history attached. When you reach the base of the hill, the first thing to draw your attention is a beautiful "pinchi" shaped gurumandir of blue, green, and orange hues. Pinchi translates to a broom made from peacock feathers. This 80 ft tall temple is one of the sacred Jain temples in Southern India. However, you are allowed to enter and savor its beauty.
