i think one of the bigger issues with social forms of anarchism/communism/socialism, at least from a usa perspective, is that it's like... too social. desperately social. part of it's probably that a lot of the individual social socialists are personally isolated etc. and they're trying to make up for their own personal issues. another is that so much of the early history, when it was a much more popular movement, gets so put on a pedastal, idealized, idolized, that ideologically many forget to consider their actual conditions, their actual capabilities. i mean, pushing yourself may be the only way you'll grow, but at some point you gotta learn to read the situation, read the room, and learn to adjust appropriately.
