MTA Deletes Tweet Explaining Why Subway Station Benches Were Removed

Someone described as a “junior” employee said benches were removed to “prevent the homeless from sleeping on them.”

Yes, like the end of the article states this will absolutely affect disabled, elderly, etc. subway users who are not homeless, but if this only had the potential to impact homeless people it would still be absolutely horrifying.  People deserve shelter and subway stations/benches helping people whose best or only option other than freezing to death is a useful public service.  Taking away places for homeless people to sleep, go to the bathroom, eat, etc. doesn’t improve anything, it just further endangers people and further excludes people from society.

Quick info about Basic Need

Dear readers of Basic Need, I am so sorry for the delay of the newest chapter! I have written my finals and now my last tests and my final oral exam is in two weeks. Please understand that my education is my absolute first concern and I had to utterly concentrate and still do on preparing for it. I will, of course as soon as everything is done, work on the new chapter and will of course alert you in time for Publishing it! Ok... Here we are.

This is the first time I do a fan art based on a fanfiction and I’m really nervous, but this story, “Basic Need” by CallMeAlessandra, is really too beautiful!

The fan art is based on my favourite moment of the 4th chapter: “Monday Blues.” This is how I imagined the scene.

I didn't know that people in the States drink water differently wherein they either buy bottled water or drink tap water.

Here in the Philippines, we have water refilling stations which are ran by small business owners that filter water which undergo stages of purification through state-of-the-art equipment.

Besides its clean and palatable taste, it is also sold for a much cheaper price and is more sustainable than buying bottled water from the stores, and much safer than drinking tap water that may be contaminated with pollutants.

A 5-gallon of water bought from a purified water refilling station is only worth ₱25 (or $0.52) as compared to buying a 500mL bottled water from stores which costs ₱10 (or $0.21).

You have the option of owning a 5-gallon container (to be used with a water dispenser or a water bottle pump) or a slim water container with faucet that you can bring to the refilling stations when you're buying drinking water.
