Pepsi and Coca-Cola dropped out of Wireless Festival, but that kind of corporate decision always raises questions about consistency.
Don’t get me wrong, I hate Kanye West as much as the next person, but banning him from the United Kingdom is extremely questionable.
Something I noticed pretty quickly is that the UK seems to have a pattern of banning Black artists: first Tyler, the Creator, then Lil Wayne, and now Kanye.
At a certain point, it starts to look like the UK bans anyone they label a “safety concern,” yet somehow it keeps being Black rappers who end up targeted.
And honestly, fuck PepsiCo, fuck The Coca-Cola Company, and fuck the United Kingdom.
I hate seeing these companies act like they suddenly have morals when people know they still support causes and partnerships many consider controversial.
If these companies truly stood for consistent principles, they would have reevaluated a lot of their sponsors and partnerships a long time ago.
