This Thai basil tofu stir fry has all the bright flavors of Thailand. Tofu is first soaked in a tasty sauce, and then it is stir-fried with onions, bell peppers, and fragrant basil leaves. Adding chili paste makes it spicy, and the agave syrup makes the flavors go well together. For a tasty meal, this vegan dish comes together quickly and easily.
Ingredients: 300g firm tofu, drained and cubed. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon sesame oil. 1 tablespoon cornstarch. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. 4 cloves garlic, minced. 1 red bell pepper, sliced. 1 green bell pepper, sliced. 1 onion, sliced. 1 cup fresh basil leaves. 1 tablespoon chili paste adjust to taste. 1 tablespoon agave syrup. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Add tofu cubes and marinate for 15 minutes. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and saut until fragrant. Add marinated tofu cubes and stir-fry until golden brown. Add sliced bell peppers and onion, and continue stir-frying until vegetables are tender. Stir in fresh basil leaves, chili paste, and agave syrup. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
