Just had a sort-of-epiphany (while on coffee break): to hit some of the lower bass notes on Strange Animal, one must drop-tune the low string....like, duh! Now I realize it lol (after months of practicing/playing the song on my bass) Talk about a late "light bulb" moment...😣
BASS UPDATE
Just taught myself (by ear...!) the bassline to Lawrence Gowan's "(You're) A Strange Animal" in about an hour and a half. (I had to compensate on a couple lines because it sounds like the original was done on a 5- or 6-string bass) I'd say it's mission accomplished! :D Now off to cook supper...

Luckily my bass didn't fall cuz I was firmly grasping it, and luckily my mom has amazon prime, so I will get a new strap Tuesday.
Also, this gives me an excuse to get new strings!
And a third thing, this gives me reason to practice while sitting.
