MASU - Continuous work with the sculptural structure at Bastionen, Halmstad. We re-configured some parts, added a new arch. There was also some new support needed for a part of the structure that had moved a bit. And the writing is everywhere now, taking over the structure bit by bit turning it more in to a readable work.

Spår av rörelse – Traces of movement

Second part (first part was exhibition at Konsthallen, Halmstad in April 2018) of the art residency Konstnärligt arbete pågår (Ongoing artistic work) hosted by the institution Art Inside Out. We worked 3 weeks on site at Bastionen in Halmstad with 3000 wooden laths connected with cable ties. We worked by letting the sculpture evolve and grow during a dialogue between us and the spatial expression of the site.

The public was invited to write on any of the laths from the thoughts on What is my best place… It could be an actual place or a space within. Some wrote about vacation sites, others about home. Some wrote about love or anger.

The project was finished on June 10th, but thru an agreement with the municipality it got to stay on site until end of July.

During the project we met with hundreds of visitors discussing Bastionen, art, place, life and public space. A film was made by Kristina Meiton, the text Kollaborativt blivande (collaborative becoming) was written by Katti Lundh and published as the zine MASU works 4, an open talk on In-between spaces in the city was organized by Art Inside Out at the restaurant Roots with Joakim Forsemalm as moderator and Kajsa Sparrings as discussion partner, we also met with the artists at Dramalogen and we met with Konstnätverket för institutioner i Halland on the site.

Traces of movement is both a spatial and textual work that aims to start a conversation about relations, access and possibilities in the public space. Because of visitors constant interaction thru writing, the work changed over time becoming as much a place to read as to write.
