They've managed to forget - or maybe they’ve just didn't noticed the first time around, with enough of their own problems to focus on - how insufferable Crosshairs was at that age. Angry and caustic and hurting everyone around him and himself the most. The pain of suddenly shooting up several inches clearly wasn’t enough, so he ignored all the other little hurts until they turned into something worse. They wasn't sure how he even managed to reach adulthood with both his hands intact.
