I mused in silence for a brief moment. I couldn’t remember much from before I had fallen asleep. I remembered escaping this weird castle I had been planning to raid for some time now. There were traps everywhere and near to no guards around, which was quite strange at first sight. Spears were shot from the walls as I ran down the long hallways there as I made my escape, vaguely evoking a certain scenario I had seen countless times in my nightmares dreams every now and then throughout the years…
“Just what are you talking ab-” I said, trying to sit up even though my body soon regretted such careless actions. “Tch!” I winced, jaw tightly clenched, and fell back on the makeshift futon I was laying on, clutching the seemingly large wound across my stomach with my hand. Now I remembered everything a little more. Some of those spears had managed to wound me in my way out. Not as dangerously as the bamboo spears I remembered so damn well, but still had managed to leave a number of scratches, cuts and deeper and more painful injuries on my body. However, I still could not recall what had happened afterwards at all. A defeated sigh escaped my dry lips. Every breath I took was painful at this point. Without moving my head an inch this time, my gaze fell on the blue-haired girl again; a small frown was being displayed on my face.
“What happened…? …And, who are you…?”
Botan’s concern heightened in her large optics as she pushed for the raven-haired male to stay. “Your injuries are much to great, please,” she pleaded, “Rest until you’ve recovered.”
The peony continued to observe the bat demon until his defenses slowly began to drop and rest with ease. Perhaps he started to accept the situation--he was no fool by any means, and rest was indeed needed. However, it was most difficult to explain to the man how he ended up in Genkai’s temple to heal over his severe injuries. Would it be wise to explain to him that by his own error, he was caught in a trap set specifically for him?
Looking back over his battered and bruised body, Botan decided to ignore his previous question and skip right to the later. “The name’s Botan--I work for spirit world; perhaps you’re familiar?” she asked with a slight smile at her introduction, “Kuronue am I right?”
