I might expand upon this later. I want to bring up the way in which trans women are always treated as invaders. The spaces we try to access: bathrooms, women's groups, lesbian space, women's shelters, are spaces where women belong but trans women are only permitted in these spaces at the discretion of those 'already there'. The bathroom discussion is about the feelings of cis women in the bathroom, no one ever talks about how we feel in the bathroom, how scared we already are. In these arguments, trans women are permitted no emotion, they are not permitted the pain of being incorrectly gendered. They are talked about as if they don't have a claim to the space, we are discussed-often without us- as if we are an exception. I am a woman, I struggle with this everyday. Mostly because it feels like the whole world disagrees with me, I can barely go to the bathroom because the pervasive ideas in my world are that I am not de facto allowed there. Sometimes it feels like my reality is incongruous with the world's because I am trans.
