it's nice to see random bats, thanks for that. I was wondering if there's a reason why you don't write the scientific names in the tags.

That's mostly just user choice. I DO use the scientific names to verify species ! But I use the common names because I'm primarily posting for The average person, and the average person is not well versed in Binomial Nomenclature. Besides, Take today's bat, Sure I could Identify it as Kerivoula lanosa , But most people won't know what ot do with that ( or how to pronounce it ) So , ' Lesser Woolly Bat ' works fine!
