hey. your tags on that last post are super important. ive been going over how to tell my mom (who will definitely be supportive) and stuff that im genderfluid but i was worried they wouldnt take me seriously because of how i dress. idk. thanks. that made me feel better, thats all.
oh honey, i’m glad they were able to help you feel reassured and more confident about your gender identity!
i will always, always advocate for nonbinary people who prefer to present in a way that more closely aligns with a binary gender because a lot of the time it’s taken as a sort of “of course you’re a girl, you wear dresses/make-up/skirts/have long hair” or “you can’t be nonbinary if you wear men’s clothes” kind of attitude that invalidates nonbinary folks who choose not to present androgynously out of their own personal preferences.
and anyway, clothes? aren’t gendered. make-up isn’t gendered. hairstyles aren’t gendered. a person has a gender (or not, as the case may be), not the clothes they wear or how long their hair is or whether they wear lipstick and mascara.
nonbinary positivity is important, y’all. good luck with talking to your family about your gender!
