Batlinburg started out as a small community who made their homes in the big tree that became the center of the main town a little over 300 years ago. The tree had been there for about 700 before that. We're not sure, but we think there's some magical source that it's pulling from because it's - well, I'm sure you've noticed that it's much bigger than it really should be, even for its age.
Anyway, it's kind of always been a spot to visit and the town just gradually grew up around the tree until it turned into the best, hardest to get to if you can't fly nocturnal tourist trap town this side of Equestria! Almost everything outside of Batlinburg proper is from the last hundred years or so.
I call us a tourist trap a lot, but the cool stuff here really is cool.
