Dear GHB, i know that *this* isn't exactly your usual stuff, but could you spare a young troll some advice...or courage? i'm going on a trip in about a week to meet my matesprit of 5 months in person, for the first time. We met nearly a year ago on discorpse (discord), and i am incredibly flush for him, but i'm also incredibly nervous to meet him because i don't want to screw this up. Any ideas on how to make a good first impression?

♑: This seemed acute so I’ll be replying with text real quick since this is alarming to me due to the lack of background context.

Have you video chatted with them before? Do you know how they’re supposed to look? Do you know where and how they live? Because if answer to all of those is no, I’d cancel the trip immediately due to red flags. Even if you’ve spoken with them for over a year at discorpse but don’t know how they’re supposed to look and sound is a high risk to go meet them for the first time alone.

Taking someone you trust with you might not be a too bad of an idea.

If all of those were yes and few more extra points being known, like have they broken law before or anything else like that-

D: Oh for fucks sake Fureur. Listen. If you know them via internet, it’s good to be cautious since there are scammers that take the long route as well. But if you’ve spoken with them and trust them and have had a normal ‘arguing’ as well in between about something minor or big but have patched it up, you’re good to go. Because if they’ve done nothing but go along your flow and not pushed back in anything, something might be up.

But it’d be really important that you’ve seen them through a live video as well at some point so you won’t end up getting used and abused.

D: It’s also important to realize this; Have you two been honest about one another or have you pulled on more appealing Sona’s to one another? Because if you’ve been dishonest about yourself through web, it’s easy to lie more in person under stress of failing. So, just be yourself. And wish that they’re themselves too. It’s normal to be nervous and have butterflies in your stomach if you’re meeting someone you like for the first time. Do not change yourself for one bit for the other. Be 100% yourself, even if you’d be a bit silly or something else.

And take it slow. Things can often get real out of hand in the web since you’re not actually doing it in person, so, take your time. Don’t rush it.

But most importantly, voice yourself if something feels wrong.  And if that something is really bothering and isn’t fixed, be ready to leave in a short notice to back home. I’m telling this out of experience. You don’t need to or are obligated to sit through something that makes you highly uncomfortable.
