Battingson goes through media training and learns how to make himself seem normal. He makes a new cowl with eyeprotection and ditches the grease paint. He grows up to become a single dad, teaching his children discipline and how to observe and investigate and a million other things that have nothing to do with himself. He's their stoic mentor, ignoring them when they call him emo for the bat motifs, not dignifying their teases with an answer.
All this to say, one day Stephanie Brown drops by in a Nirvana shirt and 40-something-year-old Bruce Wayne has to remove himself from the situation before he starts "name three songs"-ing her.
