Every time someone from my state (Texas) shares an image of the Southern Cross on Facebook blathering on about their heritage I have so much side eye to give. Unless you're from Tennessee or Virginia where the Southern Cross was used as a battle flag, it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with your heritage. And good luck claiming the Unstained Banner and the Blood-Stained Banner for your heritage considering the creator of the Unstained Banner said that the field of white was to signify white supremacy and the only reason it was changed was because it looked too much like a flag of surrender. You could go with the Stars and Bars, the first flag of the Confederacy, but you should know your fore-fathers and the champions of your heritage ditched that shit because it looked too much like the original US flag. Basically, you're holding onto a load of horse shit and allowing an ugly ass flag to take your attention away from the fact that a man went into a historically black church and killed nine people and nine plus black churches have been burned since because you feel like taking it down is an affront to your heritage even when that flag only represented where you're from if it was flown as a battle flag over your state. Flags do not matter more than people's lives. Flags do not matter more than churches being burned to the ground. It's pretty fucking sad that you can summon more outrage over a piece of cloth than the fact that people are dying because racism is alive and well in this country.
