"thanks mum"
I was "cis" and "het" at the first Pride I ever went to. 4 different people invited me to come out to Pride and I was very confused, their only reasoning was 'I want you there'. I was also sad that I could only carry around the gray ally flag.
It was a predictably humid and rainy Louisiana day and there were probably ~30 people there. I ended up taking off my shoes and socks and squelched around in the rain. I also played baseball (shoeless) with the dykes (no foreshadowing there) and ripped my toe open, it was a good time.
Not to mention my incredibly confusing situationship with a very cool and hot bisexual girl. She invited me to come because her boyfriend (monogamous, but she was allowed to sleep with women if she wanted to. Yeah, I know.) didn't want to go. I very carefully did not flirt with her and even more carefully did not react when she rested her head on my shoulder and flirted with me.
"Nobody's perfect."
Then why do Erin Kellyman and her girlfriend Jordan exist?
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
in case you were wondering, Master Chief WAS, in fact, at Boston Pride
Two more cases remain before court in connection with 2019 event that turned violent.
I would like to draw peoples attention to the targets of Hamilton police: queer and trans folk and those who defend them. Vanderweide, a homophobe who targeted people at Pride, was only charged after massive community outcry. He was the only attacker charged, everyone else was defending Pride attendees with the exception of Hamilton police's favorite target: Cedar, who wasn't in attendance, and had their parole revoked for criticizing police in the aftermath. Police found Pride defenders out on parole or probation and came after them. Police do not make us safer, and they actively prevent us from defending ourselves.
happy pride and stonewall 50th anniversary! Did you know Miss Major, one of the original Black trans women who made history at Stonewall, is still alive, still doing the work, and still needs your support? Donate to her retirement fund.
She's disabled, a former sex worker, a mother, and an activist:
- She founded an organization that gives legal assistance to incarcerated trans, gender variant and intersex people, the TGI Justice Project, and they need your support, too.
- She also created the House of GG, a trans safe house, future compound, and advocacy center and oasis for Southern trans people, and they also need your support (scroll down to the PayPal “donate”).
she’s even on Instagram, and there’s a wonderful documentary about her free with Amazon Prime!
if you're queer: donate what you can, or boost if you're a straight ally: set up a regular donation, and get a friend to do it, too if you're a corporation: put up or shut up
(this post has been updated with her new fund donation link and info on her second project, please reblog this version)
Boston literally is considering straight pride.
Why LGBT people need pride:
Here's why straight people need pride :
They don't
They don't
They really don't
The only reason straight pride exists is for homophobia and hatred
Here's a quote from a member of Sao Paulo's straight pride march : "not anti-gay, but a protest against the privileges the gay community enjoys."
"PRIVILEGES"
Straight pride divides us further and is not necessary, especially in 2019!
