one of the few ways i think hopes has a leg-up on houses is 100% the recruitment system, since there's now way more characters bound to only one or two routes, and the majority of them have to be recruited by a specific person on your team. also, the default is to kill them, so you have to actively choose to spare them. and you don't always get that choice because many characters refuse to betray their homelands.

just as an example, you have to spare ignatz in scarlet blaze, and the only way to recruit raphael is by deploying ignatz. jeritza can FINALLY be recruited in a route other than edelgard's, but only by mercedes. i think all the time about how caspar literally becomes enraged and his damage output goes up if you kill linhardt before him. you killed his best friend and he will fight till his last breath. doesn't matter that caspar is my favourite character and i will cry if i have to kill him - he loves linhardt, not me.

it really goes to show how strong these characters' bonds are with one another, and i'm glad they take precedent over the player.

YOU'RE SO RIGHT genuinely one of the better aspects that hopes has over houses imo. ik some people aren't a fan of hopes recruitments but i do enjoy that theyre more selective. i like that hopes acknowledges that becausae of the very limited time everyone spent at the academy everyone is basically strangers to each other outside of their own houses compared to 3H, so there's not as many that would be swayed (outside of the alternative being Death)

more femslash (ok this one is just true in general for every fandom. but for gundam specifically, I do love sulemio and I genuinely love how excited so many people are to make fanworks abt them, but looking for content of any other f/f gundam ship is. bleak)

anything abt gundam x. where is the love for the only au to understand the newtype metaphor? for jamil neate, the amuro clone in his quattro era with his doctor bf and his former enemy pilot bf? for the two women who go on a date (not realizing at first that they're on opposing sides~) and then later move in together with their respective beards? for my best friend carris nautilus?

analysis that engages more with char (and hathaway, who gets a fair bit of this treatment as well) as characters with political beliefs that inform their actions. these are both characters with strong ideological convictions that they act on in fairly major ways, and it's confusing to me how much discussion I see of either of them that doesn't take that into account (like I thought that was part of the appeal of gundam, I thought we all liked that it was a political story and found that incredibly interesting, everyone seems to love dunking on people who try to claim it's supposed to be "apolitical" and yet. where is the in-depth discussion of characters' political beliefs) (also in general more analysis, particularly of char, but also of hathaway and quess and bright and amuro and orga and mcgillis and kamille and haman like. everyone tbh, that engages more directly with the text instead of seemingly relying on like. fanon and fandom telephone games and memes lol) (also more shippy char content that does more with char's motivations/beliefs/etc instead of making it seem like he would stop caring abt any of the things he cares about the second he had gay sex. tbh that is a thing I'm generally not a fan of like. for any character in any fandom, this idea that characters will stop having problems or caring abt things other than their partner once they're in a relationship. especially with how often it's emphasized that it's the person being designated ""the bottom"" who gives up their personality and motivations and beliefs once they've had sex. like. c'mon. how is that not straight up homophobic. please. anyway)

Which ship or character does it remind you of? currently most of the music I listen to is 1) anime openings/endings 2) my own fandom playlists and 3) the 3 days grace cd I have playing on repeat in my car. which is not very conducive to having interesting answers to this question unfortunately. however I do think in a world where fe3h is an anime there would be an absolute banger of an amv abt dimitri set to animal I have become

Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)? @duckswithwings has told me so much absolutely bonkers dragonriders of pern lore over the years. also shout out to everything I've learned abt rainworld and pathologic from @omnipah (those all kind of feel like cheating bc they're all things I get told abt directly rather than absorbing it from my dash. a better example of dash osmosis would be all of my secondhand knowledge of jojo from @misspickman's posts to the point that I have literally had a dream in which I was going for a haircut and the reference picture I brought was uh. Idk the character's name but they have a bob and apparently my subconscious decided that was the haircut I needed)
