The Mayan culture was filled with much color ... and heavy burdens. Though these harsh realties still abound, our students are spreading Jesus’ message of hope. 2770 miles separate David and Angel. But their love for lost souls is the same! David Luis serves the church in Santa Cruz de Quiché, Guatemala, a city of 25,000 inhabitants at 6600 feet. While Angel Jimenez is a member of a Baxter team which has planted a congregation just outside of Cochabamba, Bolivia, a city of 630,000 at 8,400 feet. GUATEMALAN CONFERENCES APRIL 17-21. They were held in La Campesina, Rio Bravo, Suchitepequez. Baxter graduate and organizer of the event, Roberto Alvarez, stated, “It marks 55 years holding this conference on the national level in Guatemala. The attendance was 5,000 from Guatemala, El Salvador and Mexico.” Other Guatemalan Baxter graduates were also involved in the planning and organizing. Now from Guatemala. Dean Selvin Monterroso. Spending nearly three weeks in his homeland, he first spoke at a two-day youth retreat for 95 teens, and then gave four lessons to members from five congregations. 19 CELO students from 9 congregations in the Quiché area of Guatemala graduate. 150 people and 3 elders attended the ceremony. Baxter’s Dean Selvin Monterroso shared a message at the event while Brother Adam Benavente offered a prayer of blessing for them. 2017 Graduate David Luis Tzarax ministers in the Quiché. He works with the director of CELO, Martin Murillo, and organized this year-long program. He notes, “We give thanks to God and the Baxter Institute that offers programs by extension such as the CELO course. Prayers are cherished as students lead four different campaigns in Central America and for the changed lives of those being baptized. 2018 - 2500 / 1980 - 500 The ever growing Guatemalan Church. Easter week 2018 Dean Selvin Monterroso attended and spoke in the huge Annual Guatemalan Conferences. Josué Chan Xirún This freshman came to Baxter from Guatemala, having studied two years in the evangelism school, BICA Guatemala. The director of BICA is Baxter graduate Roberto Moisés Alvarez. Josué’s grandfather established the church in Quiche , Guatemala; his father presently preaches for that congregation and works with Health Talents International.
