Imagine: Sherlock setting you and Mycroft up together.
Request: “Hi, I really love your writing, and I was wondering if I could send a request in for Mycroft Holmes x reader. Where the reader and mycroft like each other but they’re both completely oblivious. And mycroft and reader are at 221 b and Sherlock notices at mycroft treat reader differently and get them together some way. It’s okay if u don’t have time or want too, love u ❤️” For Anon.
A/N: Sorry it took so long to write this, I just wasn’t feeling inspired.
You heard yelling from inside the flat and you were certain you’d find Mycroft inside. Even though they were arguing, you couldn’t help but feel your heart flutter, you didn’t get to see Mycroft often, but whenever you could, you looked forward to it.
As soon as you opened the door, they turned to you. Mycroft’s grimace instantly softens and Sherlock looks between you and his brother, “Y/N, you’re back early.”
Mycroft smiles, “Hello Y/N.”
“Mycroft,” You nod, smiling back at him before turning to Sherlock, “I got what I needed.”
“Well, I guess I should get going,” Mycroft says, “Sherlock, give my words some thought.”
Sherlock mumbles something incoherent and Mycroft makes his way towards the door, he stops to give you another smile, “I hope to see you soon Y/N.”
A confused expression crosses Sherlock’s face, he noted how Mycroft always acted differently around you, and you with him.
Ever since that day, every time Sherlock had to contact Mycroft, he’d send you in his place, giving you the opportunity to get to know the elder brother even more.
Today, once again, you were waiting outside of Mycroft’s office. He finally calls you in and upon entering the room, you can tell he recently organized it, and you can also tell that he’s started using a new cologne.
“Y/N, what brings you here today?”
“Sherlock said you called me.”
He looks at you for a moment, “Oh...”
“I’m guessing you didn’t,” You couldn’t help but keep the disappointment out of your voice.
“No, but if you’re here, I wouldn’t mind the company.”
You sit down with him and the two of you being to talk about whatever comes to mind. You feel his hand lingering over yours so you turned yours over and grabbed it.
“I’m glad you’re here Y/N.”
You smiled up at him, “So am I.”
Without thinking, he leaned in and placed a small kiss against your lips, “Would you like to go to dinner with me?”
“I’d love to.”
End.

Stranger: Jesus don't say that. -AMM
Stranger: I mean, just don't say anything about a bed ever. -AMM
You: Okay fine. You're sleeping on the floor?-HWH
Stranger: No! Just, fuck, I'm quite drunk I can't help but think terrible things if you mention anything about getting your bed ready. -AMM
You: We're not having sex. I'm going to try and make you feel better, then you're going to sleep, and I'll deal with your hangover and we'll talk about this-HWH
Stranger: I know we're not that's why I said don't mention it. You're snappy. Were you asleep? -AMM
You: Kind of. I don't know. It's fine, just come over. Call me when you're out front-HWH
Stranger: [Ten minutes later: Incoming call ALEX]
You: Hamish sighed and answered the phone, heading downstairs as he talked. "You outside?" He asked, reaching the front door quickly and opening it, seeing the other. He sighed and hung up, walking towards his best friend to help him get all the way upstairs. "Hey" He said quietly, looking at the other. "How are you feeling?" He asked as he looked the other over. "Do you remember how much you drank?"
Stranger: Alex shoved his phone back in his pocket when Hamish hung up. Soon enough he saw him. Alex was drunk but he wasn't terribly drunk, he couldn't quite walk in a straight line but he could keep his balance so that was something. "Um I'm feeling weird. Confused." He muttered before shrugging, wobbling a little where he stood. "No. Not loads but not like, a little. Some shots and a couple drinks. Wasn't like-loads." He answered with a small shrug.
You: Hamish sighed and nodded, wrapping an arm around Alex and walking slowly with him up the stairs. "Where did you go?" He asked, looking over at the other, steering him to the bedroom upstairs where they would spend their night. "Out at the pub by your house?" He asked. He sighed and pushed Alex into bed once they'd gotten upstairs, taking of his shoes for him and getting him to relax. "Or did you go to a club or something? You seem like someone who'd like those"
Stranger: Alex was all to happy to flop back onto Hamish's bed, which felt like absolute heaven, and let him see to his shoes and look after him. "Um a club. With some mates. No big deal. Shit night. Every night out has been a shit night out since you came along and fucked everything, up here." Alex muttered, tapping his head with a sigh before smiling a little at Hamish as he shimmied up the bed to sit up. "I-thanks for all this." He murmured quietly.
You: "Yeah, you're pissed" Hamish chuckled, rolling his eyes. After he was sure Alex was comfortable, he crawled into bed next to his best friend and took his laptop out, but didn't turn it on yet. "And you're always so sad when you're gone" He sighed, carding a hand through his hair. "I didn't get anywhere and ruin anything, you're just being stupid" He sighed, shaking his head and opening his computer. "What do you want to watch? Or are you going to make me have a heart to heart and then pass out?" He asked, looking into Alex's eyes, trying to keep him remaining focus.
Stranger: Alex shook his head adamantly and placed his hand over Hamish's, though it was resting on his laptop. "No. No you did. You fucked it Hamish. It was- I never- just sex. You know? Just physical. I wasn't interested in anyone except for that and then /you/ came along and. Jesus." Alex said, his speech managing to sound not so drunk as he poured out all his sincere feelings and looked at Hamish, focusing as best he could. Heart to heart it was, it seemed. "I'm sorry." He muttered, looking down at his hand which lay over Hamish's.
You: Hamish sighed and shook his head, swallowing hard. He had absolutely no idea how to handle this. Alex liked him, really really liked him and Hamish didn't know how to feel about that. Right now his heart was caring and he had to act like he wasn't nervous about all of this. "Don't be sorry." He sighed, closing his eyes and resting his head against the top of Alex's. "You can't control those things, I know. How about you go to sleep, yeah? I'll watch and make sure you're alright. Does that sound good?"
Stranger: Alex nodded a little, shutting his eyes as their foreheads were pressed together. "I just- I am sorry. I've ruined our friendship and I just- I'm sorry." He muttered, painfully sincere and incredibly difficult considering Alex /never/ said sorry, even when he was in the wrong, he was just that stubborn. "Yeah. Yeah I'll go to sleep then I'll go home tomorrow and it'll be okay." He murmured, moreso to himself than to Hamish.
You: Hamish sighed and moved his laptop off the bed, wrapping his arms around Alex. He looked so weak, he sounded so scared. Hamish hated to hear that, especially because it was usually Hamish who was the weak one. "Shhh. You didn't ruin anything. If anything I'm….I'm flattered" He said, sighing and holding the other lightly to get him to relax. "But I don't want you stressed like this. Sleep will help. And I'll make you breakfast and fix your hangover and it will be fine"
Stranger: Alex nodded a little, glad he was drunk because he never got emotional anymore, he had learnt perfectly how to repress his emotions and he couldn't remember the last time he actually opened up- or looked vulnerable- to anyone. "Okay. Yeah." He whispered, burying his face at Hamish's neck and leaning into his warm embrace. He /really/ liked Hamish, he cared for him and fancied him and hell- he might have even begun to fall in love with him.
You: "Good boy" Hamish praised, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. This was too weird. Normally Alex was the one trying to calm Hamish down after a fight with his parents or a panic about whatever was relevant at the time. He swallowed thickly and closed his eyes, trying to make sense of this all. Alex liked him, Alex thought about him like that, all the time. Alex was being vulnerable for him and was loving him and he didn't know how to handle it. "Now be quiet. I'll be here. Go to sleep, dream of….I don't know. Just….I'll see you when you wake up" He promised, kissing the top of his head, trying to keep his heart from racing.
Stranger: Alex nodded a little as he pulled back. It was so weird and had Alex been sober he'd have never acted like that, so...vulnerable and, well in his eyes, weak. "Okay. Goodnight Hamish." He murmured quietly, hesitating a moment before kissing Hamish's cheek and then rolling over to lie on his side. Thanks to the drink he fell asleep before he could lie and question everything.
You: Hamish sighed and nodded. He watched Alex for a long time, feeling numb as he thought about all of this. He didn't really end up falling asleep, but he probably managed an hour or so. Most of his night was spent thinking, making sure that Alex was alright, and planning how he was going to handle this tomorrow. Would Alex remember? What would they talk about? He didn't have the answers, and that frustrated him.
Stranger: Alex was dead to the world until late the next morning. He groaned a little as he woke up, his hangover wasn't terrible but he had a headache and he was disorientated. He blinked at the room, rolling over and -oh. Oh no, everything -almost- came flooding back to him and he wasn't sure if he wanted to crawl in a hole and die or run home and never talk to Hamish again. He was panicking and he rolled over to stare up at the ceiling.
You: Hamish had lightly dozed off as the night prolonged, but when Alex stirred, it woke him up quickly. "Hmm? 'Lex? You okay?" He asked, sitting up, looking at the other, who looked upset and confused. "How's your head, you alright?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "Slept well?"
Stranger: Alex nodded a little in response to the questions, immediately adopting a straight face when he knew Hamish was looking over at him. "Yeah I'm fine. Sorry for bothering you last night. And making a complete tit out of myself." He said before turning over to give Hamish a smile, forced but convincing as he had gotten good at them over the years.
You: Hamish chuckled lightly at Alex and sighed, shaking his head and sitting up. "You were fine. A little pathetic, but you get like that" He said, sighing. He held a hand out to offer to help Alex up and studied him. "It was fine. I didn't mind at all. I'd rather you were here than walking around on your own, blubbering to strangers"
Stranger: Alex took Hamish's hand, quickly pulling himself up before dropping it again. "I don't blubber, thank you very much." He said before sighing and rubbing his head. He just wanted to erase last night, wished it had never happened, wished so desperately he didn't /care/ so much about Hamish. "Thanks for having me anyway. I'll endeavour not to drunk text you in future."
You: Hamish swallowed thickly, his heart absolutely pounding as he listened to Alex. "Yeah?" He asked weakly, looking up at the other for a second. "I ahh, I didn't mind. I didn't know you felt so…..yeah" He said quietly, leaning in and kissing his cheek, pulling away a moment later and looking up at him for a moment. "I don't mind you know. I ahh…..it was nice. I liked it"
Stranger: Alex, much as he tried, just couldn't stop the blush spreading over his cheeks. He turned to look at Hamish, narrowing his eyes at him as he tried to understand what he meant. "What do you mean?" He finally asked. Did that mean Hamish felt the same? Did -oh God Alex wanted to die from embarrassment at the mere thought- did he /pity/ him? And he'd kissed his cheek, what was that about?
You: Hamish bit his lip and looked down at his hands, fidgeting with them. "I ahh. I just….." He swallowed, looking down and sighing. "It was…..I've never had anyone say those things and ahh, yeah" He said lightly, running an hand through his hair and taking a deep breath. "I ahhh, I really liked it"
Stranger: Alex shook his head a little as he tried to understand what Hamish was saying. "So you liked being told...that stuff, but who told you is irrelevant? It was just...nice, to hear that?" He asked, which sounded a little mean but he only meant it to clarify things. "You don't..." He trailed off. He couldn't lower himself to ask if Hamish felt the same.
You: "No!" Hamish started, snapping his head up. "No I ahh, it meant a lot…from you" He said, taking a deep breath and sighing, looking over at the other before looking down at the floor again. "It meant a lot from you. I liked hearing that….from you"
Stranger: Alex sighed and shook his head. "I don't- I don't understand. Does that mean...you know?" He asked, confusion written all over his face. He could barely process what had happened last night let alone everything that was happening that morning. "From me for any particular reason? Or..."
You: Hamish, under a quick wave of adrenaline, leaned in and kissed Alex on the lips, pulling away shakily a few moments later. He looked at Alex, a bit scared and confused before getting really nervous after realizing what he did and looking down, wanting to run away, out the door and where Alex wouldn't' have to look at him, but he was too afraid, he was stuck to his spot and couldn't move.
