For atlantianbloodliar who was feeling down and requested a little Jariadne ficlet. She mentioned the drabble/art combo I made for the Secret Santa, and I ended up doing something similar. :’) Lydia, I hope you like it!

Jason sprung up from the chair, not caring one bit that it made him look anything but majestic. In that moment, he was not the King of Atlantis – just a regular husband worrying for his wife. “Yes. How’s she?”
“The Queen is alright, as is the child. It was a false alarm; I assure you, sire, there is nothing to worry about.”
Jason let out a breath he hadn’t realised he was holding in. He nodded at the physician and clasped his shoulder, even as he was already advancing toward the closed door. “Thank you. You may go.”
Ariadne glanced up the second she heard the door opening, and upon seeing his face, a beautiful smile blossomed on her face. Her hands were curled around her belly, but now she raised one to beckon him closer.
Of course, Jason didn’t need the prompting: he was already marching forward. As soon as he closed the short distance between them, he dropped to his knees in front of his Queen, his Beloved… the mother of his soon-to-be born child.
Ariadne stroked his face and then slipped her fingers under his chin.
“We are alright, my love. I’m sorry I made you worry.”
Jason kissed her fingertips.
It’s been two years since they retook Atlantis from Pasiphae’s evil clutches. Two years since they made Jason’s ancestry public and, after receiving the blessing of the gods, started ruling together. The kingdom was prospering like never before. And his friends… well. Hercules was travelling a lot, making a name for himself as a true hero at last, while Pythagoras and Icarus opened a school together for children with a thirst for knowledge - but they always made time to get together like in the old days. Cassandra was just as beloved and admired as the previous Oracle. Medea, Therus and Arcas visited them at least a couple of times a year.
Half a year ago Jason had thought it was not possible to be any happier… but expecting their first child thought him that there was always space for more happiness.
He pressed a hand to Ariande’s round belly and smiled when he felt the fluttering of life under his palm. Soon now, he will be able to hold and kiss the baby properly.
For now, he was perfectly content kissing Ariadne.
