“Of course I moved on!”
“I know you wouldn’t wait for me. It’s stupid to think that you would.” He sighed. “I’m also not mad that it happened, because let’s face it... I’m a mess. If I’m not too focused on the game, I’m absent, I’m training. You don’t deserve it. Now what I’m now.” He was stupid by letting her go, but she deserved someone who made her happy and if that person wasn’t him than perhaps he should let go and move on with his life, the league was close and he had to focus on keeping up with his game or else the coach would notice that he wasn’t one of the best in the field... again. He shouldn’t allow the problems in his life to get to him when he was playing, but yet he couldn’t get her out of his mind. She was the one he wanted, he just had had a bad timing. “But if I have a shot, Elena. If we could be something, I’m here... waiting for you. And I’ll be the best version of myself for you.”
“I don’t want to live in a world without you.”
He looked at her moving his hand on top of hers while lying at the most uncomfortable hospital bed he had ever been, or maybe that was the pain on his leg talking. “Good to know an injury makes you discover how important I am to you,” he tried to joke before he felt the pain again, it feel like he was being rippen apart from inside out, but he tried to mantain the smile. “Don’t worry, the worst thing that could’ve happened would be me being unable to play ever again. It would feel like death to me, but I would still be there for you. Don’t you think it will be easy to get rid of myself, Lena. We didn’t pass through so much for our story to be so short.” Winking at the girl he moved her hand close since he couldn’t move himself as he kissed her hand. “I love you, and thank you for being here.”
He had the television off since he didn’t want to hear anyone talking about the incident that happened during the game, hedidn’t want images of his leg breaking, he still had to hear from the doctors what exactly had happened, but since he had only seen Elena inside of his room, it meant it was bad. Bad news would lead to a whole crowd waiting for him to open his eyes. “Seeing you has never make me so happy. I’ll be the selfish person in this relationship and tell you to stay here. I don’t want anyone else around me right now but you.”
“There’s no way that I’ll say no.”
He was still on his knees when he heard her answer. “You really can’t just say yes? Do you want to kill me?” He laughed, listening to people clapping after his proposal and a few recording it. None of it mattered, because the woman of his life had accepted his proposal, the one who had been next to him through the good and bad times. The one he couldn’t give up of and he didn’t. Elena had become so important to him in a short period of time that it made him notice that she was the one, even if it would take years until the moment she would become his wife, she was the one. He would never meet anyone like her. They were the new Shakira and Piqué, and deep down he liked to think they were even better than them.
Moving himself up, he embraced her in his arms before sliding his hand behind her neck pulling her in for a kiss. The lips that were so familiar and yet would cause him happiness, there was no one else he wanted to love, he was lucky that at that day in the bar he had met her, before he would discover she was the sister of his teammate, that he was able to see her beauty and notice he wanted her before he would be forbidden of such thing. Having her in his arms and tasting her lips proves that waiting is worth and now he didn’t need to wait any longer to tell everyone that they were engaged and they would be together for as long as they could live... or so he hoped for.
