What the hell did Jeremy do to my beautiful girl Alya???

What is her hair? Where’s the volume? Where’s the curls and waves?? Why does her hair look so short? This isn’t Alya. I don’t care that this is Jeremy’s version of Miraculous. But what I see of Alya is a shame. This doesn’t feel like Alya.

I can only hope that she fell into some water or something for giving the impression of her flat hair but I’ve been skeptical of this entire movie from the beginning. And this doesn’t give me any hope.

And I’m sure there will be others thinking, “he said he’s still working on the cgi and blah, blah, blah.” I’m sorry, but as an animator myself and who teaches this profession, you can’t change characters just like that. Characters have to be finalized and completed before any form of animation. So if this is really what she looks like without curls and waves, I’m disappointed. Alya is a gorgeous character and Jeremy screwed this wonderful character up. I love Alya and I love her wonderful hair. She looks beautiful with it. It’s one of the things that makes Alya feel like Alya to me.

And does she feel kinda skinny? I hope I’m not the only one that kinda gets this feeling. Cause Alya almost appears to be thinner than her canon form. If she is, that’s another thing I will be disappointed in. I love my curvy Alya and if Jeremy got rid of that, I don’t know what to think. I just feel like Jeremy is taking away some of the the things that helps represent the character for who they are.

And I can’t begin to describe the art style. It feels like same face syndrome almost. I’m sorry, but I’m not a fan of the art style. It feels like Jeremy is trying to be Disney and I’m not a huge fan of it. The quality can be great but if the style doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. If it wasn’t for Alya’s iconic shirt, I wouldn’t have known this is Alya.

I’m still meh about the movie. I know it’s for kids but it doesn’t mean it can’t be critiqued for what it’s worth. I still wish the movie wasn’t a retelling. Wish Jeremy did something a little more original that could have built or aided canon but, I’m not writing the film. I’m just a viewer as a fan and animator. These are just my opinions. Anyone is free to disagree.

But I do hope people get what they want from the movie. But all I see is fan service for love square and it just unfortunately lacks appeal to me. I wish everyone who does see the movie when it comes out that they enjoy it. I hope it’s worth the spoils and hype Jeremy constantly does. But unfortunately when you continue to spoil and post, it doesn’t always live up to the hype.

So, I’ve debated posting this topic for a while and I’ve finally reached my limit.

To all of the ML fandom fanfic writers. For the love of god PLEASE do not use the Luka Couffaine/Marinette Dupain-Cheng relationship tag if it is NOT ENDGAME!! I’m tired of being baited when it hints or reveals to be an Adrinette endgame fic. I do not hate the Adrinette ship but I am bored of it and would like to read other ML ships related fics.

So, PLEASE!! Only use the ship relationship tag for what the endgame ship is.

So I’m generally curious. I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I’d love to gets asks or replies about thoughts on this.

I’m not a huge fan of the love square romantically but I love them as a platonic ship.

However, I’ve always been curious about those who view them romantically. For me, I feel like Adrien would benefit a lot from Marinette but at the same time, I can’t say the same for Marinette.

In honest curiosity, what can Adrien offer Marinette that isn’t money and fashion connections.

Just finished watching Immigration Nation on Netflix that goes behind the scenes of ICE and other immigrant organizations. I can understand why ICE didn’t want this documentary to be released....that was very hard and heartbreaking to watch.

It’s a good documentary but it’s emotional I won’t lie. I’ve never felt so much sadness and anger at the same time. I’m naturally a down to earth person who goes with the flow and wears their heart on their sleeves, and always puts others feelings before my own but this was rough. I can’t honestly remember the last time I truly cried as I watched something. Definitely shows the flaws of the system and how heartless some people are. I’m not saying all of them are heartless but there were a few I would gladly punch in the face or drop in a ditch and leave them to rot from how they behaved. To simply view a immigrant as number to fill your quota like it’s a game is unthinkable to me. Like, I’m speechless.

I could go on about this documentary and write a review from it but all I can say is give it a watch. It’s crazy but good.

Winning A Cheiftess’s Heart

Even though I’m already writing a HTTYD fic, I thought of another one I’m gonna have to write.

Main idea, Hiccup is exiled from Berk and after leaving, Astrid is chosen as the new Heir of Berk. 6 years later at the age of 18, the council claim she take a husband. To offer Astrid more of a chance, Stoick agrees when Astrid asks to invite other allied and other peaceful tribes for suitors.

Cue in exiled Hiccup who is chief of one of the peaceful tribes further out from Berk but known by other tribes to have incredible trade. What I have in mind for Hiccup’s back story is something I’m looking forward to. Even though he’s not easily recognized by Berk, Astrid finds him familiar and becomes drawn to him. All suitors, including Hiccup, since he is still single, battle for Astrid’s hand, Hiccup easily becoming one of the top contenders.

I have most of Hiccup’s back story thought out which will be fun. And mainly will be through Astrid’s point of view, but will bounce off towards Hiccup’s when he makes an appearance. And Hiccup has a persona he portrays among most people but himself with his tribe. Again, more on that in the back stories.

And toothless and the other dragons will be there too.

Chat Blanc spoilers mentioned below. So if you haven’t watched it and wish to avoid spoilers please move along.

I know I’m most likely gonna get some people from the fandom who will full-on disagree with what I’m gonna say, but I don’t care.

If there is one thing I took from this episode, it was not that Adrinette couldn’t be together because of Gabriel.  Yes, he is a horrible father and shows he doesn’t care who gets in the way even if it’s son to bring his wife back, but he is not the reason Adrinette can’t be together.

One of the reasons Adrinette can’t be together is that Adrien and Marinette are simply not ready.  Most importantly, those two are not mentally mature enough to be in a relationship.  I don’t care what others in the fandom say, but Adrien’s love was not 100% genuine.  I’m not doubting his feelings aren’t true, but his reasoning for loving Marinette is what doesn’t feel full genuine to me.  I know others will disagree, but his love for Marinette felt only because he figured out she was Ladybug.  He said he figured out she was more than just a friend because he loved her.  If that were true, then why wasn’t Marinette thought of as a romantic option when he tried to move on instead of Kagami? 

Or in puppeteer 2 when he told Marinette that he loved someone else. It showed he didn’t see Marinette as a romantic interest, but only as a friend.

Just because he states whoever is underneath the mask he’ll love. If you hadn’t considered the other half of that person as a romantic option before but all of sudden after figuring the dots that that person was the heroine you loved, then sorry for me not fully believing your love is 100% genuine.

I loved the episode, it was fun and great.  I loved seeing all that we got of the love square, but it’s not gonna stop me from seeing pass that and seeing certain points along the way.  Yes, I believe that Adrien and Marinette are going to be a great couple and will love each other. They are strong and we can see it.  However, it doesn’t prevent us to see that they aren’t mentally mature enough to be in a romantic relationship, hence why Luka and Kagami are here.

I can’t wait to see Adrien and Marinette grow stronger and closer and eventually become a couple.  But they first need to learn and grow. It’s not just because of Gabriel being an a**.  And this episode partially shows what can happen when two wielders of the 2 most powerful miraculouses know each other's identities. These are some of the dangers that they could face if knowing who the other is. It shows there is happiness in the future, but it’s just not the right time.

It was a great show, it offered a lot of excitement and information to the universe and characters, that I can’t wait for when Felix is released. I can’t wait to see how this will add to the story.

But that is my thought on the episode.  It was great and there was a good amount of emotional hurt.

Winning A Chieftess’s Heart - How It Starts

Alright, I had a few ask that wanted some more insight on this AU.  So here is a glimpse into how the beginning started.  I think I will write out the whole beginning as a chapter cause why not. Adding another fic to my list can’t hurt. Right?

Enjoy a quick summary of how things begin.

At age twelve, Hiccup Haddock is brought up to the council.  Some elders are also present.  Hiccup is brought upon the council from another incident of one of his inventions going off and destroy property/section of Berk.  It was bound to happen, Hiccup knew.  He knew he didn’t possess many Viking qualities but then again his father never took the time to teach him many Viking things.  So what else was a boy to do then try and help the best way he knew how.  Flinching at every hurtful words shouted by the council, some from his own father, the council vote to exile Hiccup off of Berk.  All in agreement that Berk will have a higher chance of survival without a spawn of Loki about.

As if the punishment couldn’t get any worse, all citizens of Berk were gathered and word of his exile is announced.  Seeing the glee in majority of the village stung Hiccup even further.  It shouldn’t be a big deal with how he was viewed among the village, but it still hurt to see people happy about it.  After the announcement, Hiccup was informed he had till the next morning to leave.  With that, Hiccup runs off into the forest to separate himself from the village where he takes the chance to break down and cry.  After a few minutes, Hiccup wasn’t prepared to hear footsteps approaching him.  He didn’t think anyone would find him in an unknown part of the forest.

Turning around, Hiccup wasn’t expecting to see Astrid come through the bushes, each finding the other’s gaze quickly.  He mumbled a greeting and turned away hoping Astrid would leave him alone.  Hiccup didn’t expect for Astrid to ask how he was and if he was okay.  Didn’t expect her to have a small glimpse of worry as she looked at him.

“Why does it matter? The village will finally get rid of Hiccup the Useless.”

“You’re not useless, Hiccup. Someone useless couldn’t create all the things you do.”

“Not to be rude, Astrid, but why do you care?”

“Because...I can’t stand seeing someone of value be ridiculed and shunned for something they couldn’t control.”

Seeing the lost and hurt in her eyes made him recall the incident two years prior with her Uncle Finn being shunned from the village after the night of the Frightmare.

“You think I have value?”

“Everyone is of value, Hiccup.  You just have to figure out how to use your gifts.”

Hiccup and Astrid stay in the forest a bit longer before heading back to the village. As they walk back, they could see in the distance by the pier of Stoick and other council members packing some supplies on a small boat that Hiccup could manage on his own.  While his father was busy, Hiccup disappeared into his house, Astrid following along to offer assistance.  Hiccup wanted to escape during the night while the village would be busy with their own things and at home.  He’d like to leave without a village cheering at his departure.

With Astrid’s help, they exit the home without being seen and quietly make their way to the dock once it was clear and the others were gone. Hiccup and Astrid place the small sacks of his belongings into the boat, the moonlight being the only light source.

Before Hiccup hops on the boat and leaves, Astrid hands Hiccup one of her best daggers.  He takes the dagger and looks at Astrid, surprised but curious.

“For protection or anything that might require a cut or two.”

Hiccup smiles as he tucks her dagger into his belt and gives her smile, thanking her for the small moments of support and care before leaving.  He becomes shocked when Astrid pulls him into a hug which he gladly returns after shaking the shock away.

“Promise me nothing will go wrong?”

He looks at her stunned.

“Promise me you’ll be safe?”

Hiccup gives her a smile and promises he’ll do his best to be safe.  Astrid looks away, a small blush on her cheeks.

“Will we ever see each other again?”

“Would you like to see me again?” He asked.

“Yes.”

Hiccup gives Astrid a smile and tells her he’ll make sure they see each other again.  They give each other another hug before Hiccup jumps aboard the small boat.  If there was one thing he was thankful that his father taught him before they grew apart was how to sail. As the boat sailed out to sea, Astrid stood there watching and smiled when Hiccup looked back as he gave her one last Hiccup smile before disappearing into the night, and then returning home.

The next day, Astrid and her family are in the Great Hall the next morning for breakfast along with other villagers.  Stoick and the council stand before the villagers and announce that they have decided on a new heir.  At the sound of her name being chosen as the new heir, the village roars in excitement and clap for the new heir, cheers of “Chieftess Astrid” ringing through the Great Hall.  For her family, it was a start at a new beginning to bringing honor to their name after the Frightmare incident.

Yet, at that moment, with the announcement, Astrid wished she had Hiccup there to help her through this.  If there was anyone she valued for assistance and help, it was him.  She hoped that wherever he was, Hiccup was okay and safe.

I just remembered something that happened with me and my team that relates to the ML fandom salting it up about the show being like fanfics and or taking fanfics for the show.

The thing I wanted to say is that similar ideas will always collide at one point.  In the ML fandom, people have written so many fanfics, it shouldn’t be a surprise if the show begins to feel like one.  People can write fanfics quicker than getting animations out because animation takes longer.  The writers of a show need to be about 2-3 seasons ahead for a show.  So it shouldn’t be suprising if fanfic stories hit similar tropes and other things that the ML show has.  When you wait for the next season or whatever, all you do is theorize and think of ideas, so yea.

I wanted to share an experience how similar ideas collide, especially story wise. When I was in my final year in college for my degree in animation, my team and I spent the previous 1 year and a half desiging a story for our senior thesis, which was making a animted short.  Our story consisted of a toy town where shit happens and it turns out that it’s a little brother and older sister playing with their grandfather’s toy train set. (Does a movie come to mind?) So how do you think we felt, when we just started production on our animated short when the LEGO movie released?  All my friends and I went to the movie and enjoyed it, mind you, but when they revealed that it was a son playing with his father’s lego set, how do you think we felt seeing a reveal like that like our animated short had? We were starting to freak out about to halt everything and start designing a new story when our professor told us to stop.

Our professor for that year who was our director, told us that ideas, whether it’s stories, characters, etc, will always collide with another in similarity in a point in time.  But if it’s executed differently, who cares if there’s similarities.  It’s OUR story.  It’s OUR creation.  We should be proud of what WE create, regardless if there are similarities.  So we continued with our story and finished it by the due date that was given to us.  And it turned out to be a big hit at our release date, especially with the kids.  We even won some awards against other animated shorts.  Just because there are similarities, there is nothing that deserves freak outs, anger, saddness, or salt for something to have similarities with something else.

That’s all I wanted to share.
