Notice to all my Vancouver BC/surrounding area. BC transit has issued their 72-hour notice for strike action. If an agreement isnt reached by october 31st 2019, transit will shutdown.
A bus driver! And a rough-and-ready pavilion (as of March 31/26).

Zippy (My power wheelchair) and I just finished our transit training! It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.
Basically, a bus is assigned to you and comes to your place and a nearby curb, and you get to spend the time practising getting on and off so you're not all anxious when you do it for real.
The Nanaimo district goes as far north as Qualicum Beach with plans to expand to Courtney/Comox, and as far south as Duncan, where you can transfer to a bus that'll take you to Victoria. They also go to the airport and the two downtown ferry terminals. BC Ferries goes to North Vancouver, and Hullo goes downtown. The plan to get to Port Alberni & Tofino is also in the works.
I'm not sure I'd go far away from home, but it's certainly nice to have the option! The BC Disability bus pass system expanded, so for $55/year I can get a pass that lets me go on any BC bus for free.

Okay, but hear me out, BC Transit...
Accessible seating isn't a goddamned courtesy.
It's the barest minimum.
My city has been rolling out newer busses that have like five more accessible seats than the older models, which is tight, sure.
But there's no forward facing seats. All the accessible seats are inward facing and trying to keep myself upright while rocking back and forth as the bus accelerates and slows is fuckin murder on my hips.
Two steps forward one step back I guess.
