Sangamon River Bridge
This is where the original Illinois Central Railroad, the charter line, crossed the Sangamon River south of Decatur, Illinois. The line is now owned by the Canadian National, and therefore we have the pleasure of seeing BC Rail C44-9WL on the point.
The Pennsylvania Railroad also gained access to Decatur via the same bridge. Their line from Paris, Illinois, came due west and merged up with the Illinois Central at Hervey City, and thence into town over the same line.

We stopped by the BC Railway and Forestry Museum. It was fun seeing all the old rail equipment and listening to the kids as they figured out how things worked. We also found a patch of Raspberries. They were just right! 😊. The small rail train ride was not running because of COVID. Maybe some other day. #BCRail #BCForestry #museum #BCLiving #familytime https://www.instagram.com/p/CDr0o9fjM5c/?igshid=1vtxqxvmivjqr
