We started to consider making a comic for each of the stories because they were so interesting to read. It would be cool and it’s a great concept however it takes too much time for the artist and again, we shortened the text limit for the writers for a reason ,and that is to keep everything small quick and simple. We didn’t want to complicate things fro the readers and artists. Also if we were to make the artists promise to make a comic for their chosen story/writer, the time it’ll take them to draw the drawing might become a hassle and become a chore after awhile. We want no commitment, and no strings to the artist. we want them to feel free and can do what ever they want in a short time, which of course everyone has the right to do. especially because they aren’t going to be paid for this, and the main incentive for everything on this website is all about passion for writing and passion  for illustrating, then we want to keep everything short and quick t do. nice, and easy. short and sweet.

Animation Studio Reflection

I feel really bad that I couldn't finish the code at the end even though I did spend quite a significant amount of my time trying to understand and teach myself the programming that establishes the connection between the keyboard, Arduino and Processing and controlling the neo pixels right at the beginning of when we received the neopixels. However, I found it a challenge to program the whole installation without it being set up. So we chose to stop with the coding for a while and focus on soldering and setting up the installation. Because our installation was allocated right at the area where there were lectures held, we had no choice but to wait till all the lectures were over to set up and it took us more time than expected (even with 3 other people helping us) setting it up, so we ran short and did not have enough time for the coding at the end.

Well, this was our first time fabricating a project like this, and I noticed that, we would always end up under estimating the time it takes to achieve some activities and goals we set, and would take us more time than expected. I guess I speak for both my partner and myself when I say that we have learned a lot about managing our time for a project this big. On the other hand, we are happy about our design process and also, the way the installation looks now. We hope to continue this project again next year at semester 2 for a better result than what we are left with this year.

Creative Audio Crit and Update

Today we had a crit session so we could have a chance to view and provide feedback for others. I find these sessions extremely vital in receiving other’s insight into my projects and how I can iterate on my creations. The feedback I received today included,

My music/tracks were of a high quality

Remember to keep it simple (Less Samples = More Ambience)

Begin concepts of physical project (Cassette Tape)

Refine and final touches on tracks to perfect sample/sound quality

Careful of too repetitive melodies (Not that mine are but just to keep in mind)

Now that I have a handful of completed tracks my next steps for this project are to generate concepts of how I will create/present my cassette walkman and tapes.

Currently working on the communication between Processing and Arduino. yuqingyo
