do you have any tips on leveling up really quickly?
The only way to level up quickly in Bravely Default is by using the auto-battle system so that you can do other things while grinding because you're never really gonna level up that fast. There is the growth egg which will double EXP and JP in exchange for PG, but it is very expensive and you need a level 10 accessory shop from your Norende. The below methods got me from level 64 to 99 and Level 14 on all jobs in about 5 hours.
Now, to get a grip on the auto-battle system you have to make sure you keep in mind how much MP is available to you, how much damage your characters will do on average, and WHO WILL ATTACK FIRST. You have to make sure that the agility stats of all your characters are where they need for the right order.
My best way of leveling up against normal monsters ((before having a level 11 Dark Knight)) was to just use the Crescent Moon ability from the Valkyrie along with whatever job you wanted that had Natural Talent. Natural Talent is the Level 14 passive skill you get from the Monk class, which means that if you have nothing equipped you increase physical damage by 100%. This along with Knuckle Lore will make you very powerful, but also easily killed. I would make sure that 3 of your characters have this set up so that you can use Crescent Moon a total of 6 times which should definitely wipe out the enemy. Make your fourth character (I recommend Agnes since she has the most mind) a White Mage so that she can just use Cure every turn. Every so often you will have to visit an Inn to refill Agnes' MP but this way you can go for a good 20 minutes by just running around in circles pressing A.
Now the other strategy requires the Dark Knight's level 11 ability Dark Nebula. This takes 20% of his health and deals QUADRUPLE DAMAGE to both enemies and allies. Easiest way to do this is make everyone on your team equip a Dark Shield so that they nullify dark damage, and set up your Dark Knights moves to do Treat > Dark Nebula > Treat > Dark Nebula (Treat is the level 2 freelancer skill that heals 20% of your HP and I'd be surprised if you didn't already have that on every character. If your Dark Knight has the Natural Talent and Knuckle Lore as mentioned before than he should be dealing between 7000-9999 damage depending on your level. If you can't get Dark Shields for some reason then make sure you have a level 13 spiritmaster who has at least 12 more agility than your dark knight. Make them use Enigma, which will nullify elemental damage for you and your allies for 4 turns.
Another way that required me to pay more attention but worked rather well was having a spiritmaster to atleast level 9 which gave them the Holy One ability and a white mage. I would then fight Undead Monsters, and use Cure 4 times in a row, first on my party in case the monsters attacked first, and then 3 times on them. Only Undead monsters are found in the area from the SwordBearer ShieldBearer story arc after chapter 5. This one made me go to the Inn a lot but it was still powerful because of the 2.4x recovery from Holy One.
Hope this helps!
Job combos pretty please?? I'm stressing over the best for each character and which paths I should take for them (´Д` )
So glad you asked, because this is something I feel I'm very good at. First make sure you understand how the stats differ between the characters. Please keep in mind while reading this that I had everyone with level 14 on every job, and I don't have the game on me so I can't really tell you exactly which ability comes from where, but I remember quite a bit. So here goes nothing:
Everyone has similar stats when they are freelancers, but you can see clearly which character is better at what. Tiz is pretty overall; his stats are pretty much the same. Agnes has better Intelligence and Mind, so a mage is where you want her at. Ringabel has the best Agility, so he will be faster than others in the faster classes. Edea has the best Strength, so she makes for a good Knight/Templar.
Keeping all of these in mind, I'll just tell you my End-game party. Tiz could play a variety of roles at the end. The one I had him using was Monk/Freelancer. This combo allows him to use Pressure Point, which in my case dealt 9999 every time he attacked. The reason for Freelancer was so that he could use Mimic, allowing him to use Pressure Point 4 times in one turn. His abilities were P. Atk 30%, Rise From Dead, and I think P. Def 10%. That way I didn't have to worry about Agnes spending too much time bringing people back to life.
Agnes was the ultimate White Mage. She was the Spiritmaster/White Mage, making her healing (and Holy) cost less MP. Her abilities were Holy One and either Epic Group Cast so she could use a lower level healing on everyone, or Conservation of Life so that if she died the others would come back to life. Spirit Master and White Mage really do work hand-in-hand, and combos aren't really a thing for this class. What I did was mainly Enigma so that we were invincible to elemental magic all the time.
Ringabel was a Dark Knight/Vampire and he KICKS ASS. He uses the dark knight abilities to drain his health, and then use Blood Thirst and he would get it all back. This or Monk/Vampire so that he could use Phoenix Flight and then blood thirst. His abilities were Drain Attack plus (makes Blood Thirst stronger), Rise from Dead, Absorb P. Damage, and P. Atk 20%. Really nothing else to say. He was quicker as a dark knight than anyone else, so he was just amazing.
Edea was Templar/SwordMaster or Templar/Freelancer, depending on whether or not I wanted to use the Templar's BP skills or their MP skills. I usually used the Freelancer as my secondary so that she could use Heart Strike consecutively. She could also use Rampart, which helped against MANY bosses. Her skills were BP Limit up, Hasten World, and P. Def 20%. Hasten world is awesome because you can default a lot, and the enemy will keep wasting their points, while you can stack up your points faster. Hasten World made everything WAY easier for me because of my playstyle of getting a lot of BP so that I could unleash attacks for one turn and then go back to the defensive.
Some other random Job Combos:
Edea - Knight/Ninja(Turn Tables, Transience, Comeback Kid, Hasten World): This allowed Edea to make herself the Target and then defend. Using Utsusemi and Kairai, she would dodge an attack, and on that dodge she would gain 25% on Physical and Magic Attack, do a counter-attack, and get an extra BP point. This only works well with enemies that use physical attacks, which is why I don't use this all the time. It still works well though, because Knights just get a lot of defense anyway, and she has at least a bit of attack power.
Edea - SwordMaster/Conjurer: The only ability I remember her having with this combo was Hasten World. The reason for this combo is the Swordmaster's ability Free Lunch, which allows you to use no MP for two turns. During those two turns, you can pretty much max out on all your stats with the buffs from the summons. Downside to this: You have to get all the summons. Other than that this is a strong class that can do a lot of damage with, counter well, and stay alive because of increased defense.
Ringabel - Dark Knight/Freelancer + Agnes build: Use the above mentioned Agnes build for a way to completely WIPE OUT ENEMIES. This combo is awesome to have for grinding especially should you decide to go down that route. This is a very dangerous build to use if you aren't careful in making sure that Agnes has ATLEAST 12 more points on Agility than Ringabel. Have Agnes use Enigma, which makes you nullify elemental damage. Ringabel has a move that deals QUADRUPLE DAMAGE to BOTH SIDES for only 20% of max HP. You can use auto-battle and press A to grind your way through most terrains post-chapter 4. Make sure that Ringabel's order to use skills is Treat, Dark Nebula, Treat, Dark Nebula. AND MAKE SURE AGNES IS FASTER. IF AGNES IS NOT FASTER YOU WILL KILL YOURSELF. If you're worried about this, make sure you get a shield that nullifies dark damage and have everyone equip it (This will make Ringabel much weaker, but hey, you won't be killing yourself every now and then).
If you want anymore I will gladly PM you out of Anon. Hope this helps you or anyone else who needs it. Good luck with your game!
How did you beat the game so quickly? Can you give me any tips? c:
**SKIP TO THE SECOND TO LAST PARAGRAPH IF YOU WANT TO JUST READ THE SHORT ANSWER**
I actually didn't beat it very quickly at all (in my book anyway)! I had this game pre-ordered, so it took me MONTHS to beat it. I guess the game never became a grind fest for me because 1) I had my encounter rate at +50% for most of the game, making my party a little stronger than normal. Sometimes even +100%. I did go on a 5 hour grind spree, but that was some major end-game powerleveling mastering every job and getting every character to level 99. Going from level 68 to 99 in five hours was pretty quick in my book, since that included getting the vampire job (Incredibly hard but totally worth it)
2) SPECIALS: I feel there is something that a lot of people overlook and that is the SPECIAL MOVES! I was actually able to beat quite a few bosses in just a few turns by making every character have Paralyze Touch on their special attacks. Before using anyone's special attacks I had Agnes use Withering Ripple (The Rod Level 2 Special) which had a Paralyze resistance down ability. Throughout almost the entire game Agnes used a Rod and a Staff so that she could use Withering Ripple, and so she could use Rejuvenation, because Rejuvenation can get the ability to raise MP and BP, and of course having the 200% healing magic boost was great because I could fully heal my party with a Cura when they had over 10,000 HP (I once had all my characters getting a 185% P. Atk boost along with a 140% M. Atk boost and 135% Hit Count boost. We were dealing max damage with every attack no matter what).
3) THE POWER OF A MONK: A MAX LEVELED MONK IS NECESSARY FOR ANY TEAM!!! A Max level monk can deal the most physical damage with absolutely nothing equipped because of Knuckle Lore and their final ability Natural Talent, which doubles their physical attack when nothing is equipped. That and Pressure Point, which only uses 1 extra BP, deals double damage and IGNORES DEFENSE.
4) JOB HUNTING: Some jobs are just meant for each other. They're soul mates. Or even just the support abilities. Red Mage and Ninja are really good together, especially because of the support abilities. Get Red Mage up in levels so you can get the Turn Tables(atleast I think, my 3DS is actually at my cousin's house so I'm not 100% sure that's the name of the skill... but something like it), and then you can get Transience and Comeback Kid. Use the Ninja's Kairai to target yourself during a 1v1 fight, and then use Utsusemi, which allows you to dodge a physical attack one time. When you dodge you will gain a stat boost, do a counter attack, and gain BP. If someone is a Dark Knight and someone else is a spirit master, you can use Fairy Ward to make your party invulnerable to all elemental damage. Use Dark Nebula, which will deal quadruple dark damage to ALL. Enemies and Allies. But wait, allies are impervious to dark damage. So you guys get no damage. The dark knight will lose 20% HP, but 20% is the amount that is healed when you use Treat, the Level 2 Freelancer skill, so you can really use it endlessly(This is the combo I used for my end-game powerleveling because I dealt 9999 damage every time I used the attack because of the Natural Talent ability I talked about earlier). Swordmaster's Free Lunch ability, which gives 0 MP cost for 2 turns, and then use the Conjurer's 10 turn buffs that originally cost 90 MP each, so you're set with a crazy stat boost. Do some job studying and hunting, and you can get some AMAZING combos! Before chapter 4, my strongest combination was Ranger w/ Sword Magic. I could use specials all the time because I could find the enemy weakness, and sometimes deal triple damage if they were weak to an element and also in one of the families that the Ranger can use their slayer skill for.
So in short, my tips are to make sure you have your encounter rate increased so that you don't catch yourself having to grind a whole lot, make use of your special attacks, because when you get them to combo together you can get some crazy stat boosts, make sure you get a max level monk, and really just mess around and see how some jobs can mesh together (in case you skipped, I have a few examples for the jobs. If you want more I can post all of the different job combos I have in a nicer format on a text post or something, just send a message in my inbox saying something like "job combos please!").
Have fun playing the game, hope my tips helped you in any way at all, because these are really the things that made the game fun, and not a chore!
