Growing up, Astrid Hofferson was a lively, courageous girl who loved her family unconditionally.
But after the death of her Uncle and her father, Astrid's life had crumbled apart. Astrid’s mom had taken a path for the worse. She had become an abusive alcoholic and when Morgance was at her lowest of lows she would violently take her frustrations out on Astrid physically and yell. Telling her it was her fault Finn and her dad got themselves killed in the line of duty, her fault that she was drinking, that they had no money. By the time Astrid was seven, she was a firm believer in what her mom told her carrying that guilt.
When Astrid was ten-years-old she was fed up with her mothers abusive and acoholic behavior and she ran away from home and found an crumbled up abandoned barn and made it her own. Ever since then Astrid has always taken care of herself. She worked hard in the summer doing what ever she could to earn a quick buck. Only she wished she kept a closer eye on her mother over the years. Unknown to Astrid her mother was piling in major debt with the Jorgensosn. Gambling and drinking off everything until the only thing that Morgance had to offer was Astrid herself. Knowing her mother didn’t care about her feelings, or what she had to say she threw Astrid in the mix under an forced arranged marriage with Spitelout’s son, Snotlout Jorgenson to lift the dept Morgance owes.
Now the clock is ticking as Astrids trying to earn the money before her wedding day to pay of the debt.

♞▸Junkyard Trash at its Finest
Ever since Astrid ran away from home she worked very hard during her Summers to save enough money to pay for School, Ballet Classes, Gymnastics, and personal necceties, all on her own. She was well-known for tracking down lost pets and being found in the Junk Yard for hours collecting Scrap Metal, Plastic/Glass Bottles&Cans, Electronics, & Quirky Items getting paid by recycling certain items.
Astrid can play several instruments having taught herself to play the piano, violen, and the guitar. She is known to play the Guitar or Violen in the Parks and Streets of Adamsville when she’s in need of extra money.
Astrid's appearance is more elegant and feminine as she doesn’t have as many scars or burns. She stands at 5′4 with a lean willowy build. Her hair is more sun-bleached from being outside alot during her Summers and is neatly styled in a lengthy side-braid draped over left her shoulder. Soft freckles spreaded out just below the eyes and just above her cheeks.
Astrid has a severe fear of Astrapophobia ( Thunder&Lightening ). She can’t quite remember ‘why’ or ‘when’ but she is known to cry and have unreasonable and overwhelming anxiety, she has increased alertness, frantic panic&anxiety attacks, clingy behavior, involuntary trembling, troubled breathing, numb from the waist down, and sometimes breaks out in cold sweat. Avoiding it by any means necessary, known to hide in or under things ( closets, tight spaces, her desk during school ) or burying herself in covers ( when she’s alone in the barn ).
( the reason: When Astrid was seven and her mom was having one of her abusive episodes she threw and locked Astrid out in a middle of a rough Thunder&Lightening storm and was almost hit by lightening trying to climb a tree for shelter but it made her temparily blind in a middle of a rough storm leaving her wandering through the woods alone. )
Growing up, Astrid often felt not being worth other people’s time and attention.
But one very hard working and sarcastic boy seemed to become her best friend. Astrid can’t really pinpoint the moment when she and Hiccup moved from being acquaintances to friends to inseparable best friends but he’s always been there for her. He’s always done things for her no one else has ever done for her.
When they where kids Hiccup saw Astrid at her very worse during a incoming thunder storm and he’s the only person who can slowly coax her out of her unreasonable and overwhelming anxiety&panic attack.
◈ Ever since they were kids Astrid is known to secretly sneak into Hiccup’s bedroom through his window ( it’s not like he makes it hard for her ). And stays with Hiccup when the weather forecasts thunder & lightning. Staying as long as the thunderstorm lasts. Several times they’ve almost been caught by Stoick as he seems to have his suspicions.
◈ Astrid is very well known to steal all the covers when she stays the night during Thunderstorms. Though she has a hidden bag with her own clothes ( &. necessities ) yet she prefers sleeping in Hiccups shirts.
◈ Astrid brings all sorts of useful metal pieces&electronic parts she’s found in the junkyard aiding Hiccup with his contraptions.
◈ Astrid told Hiccup everything when she turned 15. He’s the only person she’s ever opened up to personally about her past and abusive home life and why she lives in an abandoned barn.
Asrid gets lost frequently. She’ll go out for a walk and hours later end up somewhere she doesn’t know because she gets so lost in her own mind so guilt-ridden because of Morgance, it’s like a blackout. ( & it has left her in some very sketchy places&scenarios )
