Finished finally!

Time to play the church route next to see if it makes more sense!

I mean there's a lot of wtf with the BE ending, I was so happy when I finished you have no idea because I couldn't stand to continue playing Edel's love story

Rhea's death somehow made Sothis' crest inactive, Byleth became blue again and the plot imploded, as in, how did that happen? Rhea's passing means no crests anymore? Then I wonder how Edel managed to defeat the Monica gang, given how we were fighting for our lives with crests against Rhea's things.

But don't worry about the plot, the narrator said Edel managed to do it so we will take it at face value :)

One of Edel's goals was also to erase the kingdom of faergus from history, I understand why Dimitri needed to die! I hope his son/nephew relative never cross Edel's soldiers else he'd be turned into mashed potatoes, but hey, narrator said Rhea was the tyrant, not us :)

And I wonder what Sylvain is the margrave of his faerghus never existed but w/c

Edel told Rhea humanity doesn't need gods in a gross Alm impersonation, Edel doesn't need gods but she needs her magical pets made with emblematic gems tied to said gods, so...

And I suppose she will need them against her nuncle, but as usual, we gloss over those uh, problematic things.

In the end this route doesn't explain a thing, Rhea's evil in the last chapter and eww she roars and she burnt a city while Edel totally allowed the church members to escape when they she attacked the monastery. per her words of course because iirc the imperial army was at the monastery doors after the incident in the tomb.

It Edel told us earlier that she was evil because she made some gross experiments on crested people (let us ignore the emblematic beasts! ), ordered nuncle to experiment on her to recreate Sothis and made a barbecue with the innocents siding with the Monica gang it would have been better than this mess where we go to war for flimsy reasons, dismantle the alliance because "I know they won't work with us", want to unify Fodlan by erasing the Kingdom from History and finally see Rhea burn a city.

I'm not saying Griffith Rhea did nothing wrong, but Edel's hyperfixation isn't logical and I heavily suspect she knows its but she really doesn't like dragons

Like, how erasing Rhea makes the crest and nobility system disappear? Save for Billy's return to his original hairdo, in the thé end Caspar becomes the minister of war, just like his dad, and Ferdie takes his dad's place! Granted, they earnt their place, but it still reeks of, idk, hypocrisy? I mean, stat wise, Bernie could have been promoted war minister or something else than Ferdie's baby maker

But well who cares because there's no inhuman tyrant anymore, and nuncle Arundel died off screen, so no Arianrhod missiles on the Empire's face!

Yay!

It's as if fe4 ended with Arvis's death wait in a certain manga it does

I confess I am more than a bit biased, not against Edel herself but against the game who never calls her on her bullshit and forces you to believe she's some sort of hero like some reddit fans or SF stans.

Time to see if the game makes more sense if we decide to kill her in the tomb, but just saying this already makes the church route 50 times more coherent than Edel's.

Rhea has to eat a baby and fast in front of us else I'll start to think we're the baddies here

Maybe those weird iron maidens are used to compete with the beasts we've been fighting with in the "who's the most evil leader" championship.

So Edel turned against the monastery, we "killed" Gilbert, Flayn but at least Seteth is mentioned in the next chapter so maybe he retreated.

Cyril didn't get that chance though, and I think Catherine died. I felt bad when Rhea reacted to their deaths tbh. Not because I tried recruit cyril nope

Billy seemed surprised to see the death knight on our side, but Edel said will explain us later... Okay because no one mentioned DK and Monica since Edel's switch and it irks me a lot. Jeralt who

But of course we're not told a thing because Billy goes to sleep for 5 years, after Rhea tried to use her hyperbeam.

Oh well I'm sure there Edel's going to tell us, one day, when there won't be any statues left to destroy

A random priest still believes in the goddess but doesn't trust Rhea who's apparently a fraud for some reason - is it because she's a dragon or I missed something?

I was more than surprised when Sothis??? told us to wake up and to follow the path we choose i.e. return to Edel's side

If??? really is Sothis then she loses every ounce of sympathy I had for her - we're still siding with the guys who killed her/us and rhea seemed intent to meet her/talk/whatever was supposed to happen after Billy sat on the chair but we've turned on her for some reason... She wanted to know more about herself but Billy said nope I'm siding with Edel because.

I think we're not supposed to play Edel's route first because right now, in chapter 13, I can't still find a reason why we sided with her.

But maybe I'll change my mind, just like I did with Manuela even if she hold the idiot plot ball - the church in the kingdom asked me to join them but I refused and when Edel called me back I followed her - of course, do you think they will welcome you with open arms when you deserted the monastery and your students to side with people attacking said monastery and killef members of the knights of Seiros + attacked Rhea herself?

Finally, Rhea eats babies in a gruesome fashion!

Man, what an evil character, but somehow Annette and ashe are siding with her! Even Catherine and cyril (so he wasn't dead!) are horrified, but obey nonetheless because they are evil and listen to an evil monster who eats roasted babies!

More seriously, Edel had something to tell us and as I guessed it wasn't about her involvement in Jeralt's death, nope, but somehow, Edel knew that Billy and Billy's mom (? Was the plot to kill Jeralt a way to determine if he was involved in the Sothis plot device?) were tied to the so-called goddess!

Which we can s rank in this route but plot isn't Edel's BE route's forte, I'm afraid.

And she was sure we were going to side with rhea but she was so surprised and so happy when Billy brainfarted!

It would have been touching if Edel didn't do the previous things we've seen her do in the last chapter., I. E. "we must absolutely kill King Dimitri"

We finally know what she hates Rhea : because Rhea is a dragon!

For humanity!

And nope, we're going to conveniently ignore that it is for the sake of humanity that this pointless war happened, that we're siding with evulz people turning real bona-fide humans into monsters :)

So, back to the plot, Edel cried after beheading Dimitri, when she called him a fool during the battle. But it's only when he's dead that Edel reveals that poor Dimitri lived a shit life and suffered through the tragedy of Duscur because of Nuncle Arundel, but not even once did she bother to explain this to him, of course :)

Well Dimitri, like any reasonable person, would have called Edel on her alliance with her nuncle, but again, BE route isn't about the plot or coherence.

Dimitri's map was hardcore though, with all those randoms turning into monsters and Dedue joining them :'(

Worse, they move just after their transformation!

Rhea under her new/old identity passed by, she was a pain to deal with and she came with her weird machines, but they seem pretty mechanical compared to the beasts but less advanced than the titanus (in French) we fought at Arianrhod against the sultry lady whose name I forgot (Cornelia?)

I think the Monica gang, through the sultry lady corrupted the Kingdom from within and gave them those gfdi gems, but I guess this is something we'll learn in the BL route.

Anyways to hammer how evil rhea is, Hubert and Edel note that she uses the goddess' name to cheer up her troops, but after the Arianrhod event where they omitted nuncle Arundel's involvement to put the blame on the church to motivate Caspar and Co, it only made me sigh.

Nuncle Arundel passes by in the intro of the last chapter, saying that he and Edel share the goal of eradicate Rhea, they exchange thinly veiled threats but then nothing.

Oh well, I'm sure the issue with the Monica gang is going to be resolved in a satisfying way, and not handwaved at all!

I didn't get a choice like for Claude or something like that, but the map objective was to kill every boss so...

Otoh, given how we kill Nader in a paralogue where he attacks the alliance, I doubt we could have let Claude return to Almyra scot free. And now the narrator says that Edel is marching to unify Fodlan! I wasn't aware that we switched our goals...

Rhea's clinging to the last threads of sanity she has left, and apparently I'm supposed to mourn for own of Edel's Npc who died... Yeah. Not happening, I was more distraught at Alois' death, who called Billy out on his actions, regarding Jeralt etc but w/c

And now we're going to fight against a sultry lady chilling in arianrhod with a guy who looks like Felix. Edel wanted to attack this city to get rid of someone, and given how not!Sonia acts surprised that Edel's attacking her...

Maybe she's a part of the Monica gang? Is Edel confident enough now to tackle both Rhea and the Monica gang?

And what the fuck are those mechanical things? Are they like the iron maidens we fought against during the assault of the monastery or is it something else entirely?

(so that'd mean Rhea used something made by the Monica gang?)
