Happy Star Wars Day! Not an official photo (or anything remotely to do with star wars) but since I've been working on this for the past 72 years (at least it's felt that long!), I'm sharing it now that it's finished! Young son chose the base because it looked like sand; a good choice I think for two palm trees. Thought about adding coconuts then decided nah - maybe next time! Sorry I've not posted up much recently. Between the covid vaccine and other stuff last week was a bit of a write off so have just been finishing off some orders and planning new trees. Starting to take shape now! 5-6 hours well spent yesterday. I don't normally time myself because I know big trees can be finished in a week to ten days (if I'm pushing myself) and smaller trees I can finish in a night or two, so that's how I estimate it. Finally had to settle for selfies with the #tricentennial sign, since I seem to always be alone when I'm downtown. The freshness if rain makes the city sparkle. I love the Fleur de Lis hanging in the oaks in front of 'The Moonwalk' and Café du Monde. This deciduous, tender tree Melia azedarach (chinaberry tree, Pride of India, bead-tree, Cape lilac, syringa berrytree, Persian lilac, Indian lilac) is a fast-growing, spreading tree with fissured grey bark. It has fragrant lilac flowers followed by bead-like fruit which remain long after the leaves have fallen. These were used as street trees in Seville, Spain, and the fruit looked spectacular against the blue sky.
