I think more people would have given a shit about the 250th celebration if there were an easier word for it than "semiquincentennial." That's bad branding. Nobody calls it that. "Bicentennial" was classic, "tricentennial" will be classic, but there's no good word for 250. "Quartermillennial," maybe? I guess that would be "demisemimillennial." I don't know, I don't speak Latin. America 250 sounds more like a Republican campaign rally than a bipartisan celebration (that is by design, of course).
