I was away for some time but now I'm back and ready to answer!
1. Tell us about your WIP!
Hmm I think I'll say a little about this one EoA fic I'm writing, let's call it the "Dragon fic" for now. It's an idea I had for a very long time, basically since I wrote "The misduckventures of Mateo the Royal Wizard" but tbf it deviated quite a lot from the original idea and doesn't really have much more in common with the fic mentioned above. It's turning out to be quite long and I don't really have a lot already written x) But I think it's also going to be one of my best ones, definitely one of the most ambitious. I don't want to spoil too much since it means quite a lot to me, but it focuses on Gabe and Elena, and Naomi and Mateo, and all of the Amigos together in a sense. I can say that it'll involve quite a lot of emotions for them and they'll even fight each other at one point. I also had to make up some lore but hopefully everything will fit together smoothly. Anyway, I really hope to finish it this summer, so hopefully you'll all see it soon enough!
5. Top five formative books?
"The Chronicles of Narnia", hands down. First I fell in love with this book as a kid and then when I was old enough I noticed the artistry of its narration. To be fair, you need very specific kind of plot, atmosphere and setting to be able to use such method, but to this day I dream of one day writing a story with similar narration.
When it comes to writing in English I wouldn't be surprised if I was taking a lot from "The Maze Runner" since it's the only real book I've read in English as of yet x) Though probably fanfictions shaped me as well if not more.
A more recent one would be "Lalka" which I've read only this year. A lot can be said about Sienkiewicz and this book in particular, but I love the way it's written, the clause sentences (especially the "-" ones which I'm totally copying now) the way each character is well, characterized by the narrator (or in Rzecki's case, by his own narration in his diaries) and in the way they talk, how the characters thoughts are embedded into the text... It's one of this books that reminds you why exactly we have to read all those old books in school.
I'm not sure about any more, there definitely are some but I'm not sure about the titles now. Anyway, some books that definitely had an impact on me and by that probably on my writing are Agatha Christie's books (mostly for setting the atmosphere I think, and maybe characterizing characters by the way they speak?), "Ranger's Apprentice" (especially the humor in these), "Pałac o stu bramach" (book-games my beloved), and "Kroniki Archeo" just to name a few.
6. Favorite character you’ve written?
I am still very much in love with Michał and boy is he a joy to write for! He gives me the opportunity to use more old timey/elevated language, not to mention how complicated of a character he is. Anyway, I've yet to write for the other Lachians but I already feel like writing Lyudmila will be lots of fun, and to be fair I can't wait to write for all of them.
There are also these two characters I've written for this short story for a contest, that were inspired by a song. There wasn't much story there tbf, just things happening and we also didn't know one character's name so dodging that and finding new ways not to use it was extremely fun. I'll never wrote for them again but they hold a place in my heart 💙
Also since I write mostly fanfiction, I'll also mention I love writing Elena since she's both a very dynamic character and you can make her very thoughtful of needed, since boy, does she have a lot to think about.
Thank you so much for your ask, I completely didn't expect it <3
