Something I enjoyed is tackling the psychological parts of my characters, and give them physical symbolism, like the monsters in Silent Hill, or the absolute body horror transformation from Fear and Hunger Termina. Gonna put these thoughts under the cut. Lots of cancer mention... Hm.
Not one of my characters are free from some personal guilt, regret, sadness, etc; basically they are all traumatized to a degree.
I have thought of what if Lluvia fell under the influence of Rher in Funger Termina, and her body and mind became warped into something borderline disgusting, called Sarcoma, like the malignant cancer itself. She would have something growing out of her back that mimics the image of her ancestor, but without a face, nor anything recognizable. It only has her skin color and hair, a trait that her family carries, and would have continued to pass down if she could have children. I don't have a good example, but I suppose the closest thing she would look is like the charger from Left 4 Dead, having an uneven body, that is no longer hers anymore.
Capricious, given all the SRHK story beats, and the theme of teeths among other things, would have to deal with monsters that are formed from her past trauma and regrets, with teeths all around her. Sort of like that one teeth baby from Look Outside (which is an utter nightmare thing that I never want to face ever again in that game. Great game! But holy shit.). Reason for hysterectomy aside (because that's a trait I give to a lot of my ocs due to my own trauma), Capricious would need to deal with disgusting monsters that will try to take her down, Insane Cancer from SH3 style, or have to deal with large figures that stood taller than her, but will be impossible to knock down.
These are just a few examples, but it's fun to explore the idea of that.
Which brings me to think about some of the ocs I made, and the trials they had to endure. Beanie, a character that spawned from a fanfic that I never wrote but imagined, and may have been created around the same time as Capricious, was meant to be explored with not just my own trauma of cancer, but her own challenges as well. She was apart of several death "games", not like Squid Game, but more the DS game called 999, or the Nonary games series. She had been through one as a child, another as a teen, and a few more as an adult. And of course, she is fucking traumatized over these events, but she still lives for those that couldn't. That said, it's not easy of course. (Fun fact, her entire story is based on some nightmares I had in the past.)
And there's Cat, made for fanfic purposes, that I cause a lot of suffering to, because of her immortality trait. Every time she comes back, she still feels the pain, but still pulls through despite it. She kind of got used to it at some point, despite not being fond of it, obviously. And she still enjoys living, even if she is forced to come back all the time because of her curse.
(Wow, I'm traumatized! ewe)
