Bear Republic Big & Juicy Double IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Yep, this is juicy -- primarily orange citrus in the nose and a few other tropical notes round it out. The body is quite big and decently bitter, and has a nice bit of malt/fruity sweetness that helps balance.

Apex Special IPA / Bear Republic (Sonoma County, CA) 若干のアルコール感とともにオレンジライクなホップアロマが感じられる。ボディは意外と軽く（このブルワリーにしては、だが）、フィニッシュもそこまでもったりしておらずなかなかの仕上がりだ（このブルワリーのダブルIPAとしては）。最近の、度数が高くても爽快感の強いダブルIPAを目指そうという西海岸の流れ（？）とは違い、良くも悪くもイングリッシュスタイルのIPAへのこだわりが強いブルワリーなんだろうなあという気がしてくる。

Bear Republic’s Citra! Citra! Double IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. A nice old-school big IPA with lots of, as you might guess, Citra notes. A lot of citrus peel and grapefruit pith, as well as some candy-like fruit notes. A bit boozy and bitter in places and, while not prominent, a malt sweetness that helps balance.

Bear Republic’s Sonoma Tart (Picked up at Trader Joe’s). A 2 of 4. I’ve loved Bear Republic’s Tartare and Tartare Rouge and this just pales in comparison to them. Quite drinkable and fine, but not a ton of the tropical fruit on top of a tart base with almost no funk. More yeasty complexity would be really great here.

Bear Republic’s Further Thru the Haze Double IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 3 of 4. Yep, this is decidedly bigger than the normal Thru the Haze. Lots of great citrus and tropical notes in the nose, and a nice creamy, bitter body. Not as fruit-juicy as many hazy IPAs, but still has some nice sweetness up front before the bitterness takes hold.

Bear Republic’s Drift Racer Hazy Double IPA (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. As usual, Bear Republic does not disappoint -- I’m not sure this is the very best hazy IPA out there (it is definitely somewhere in the top quarter), but it delivers a nice complex hop profile, a thicker, hazy body, and a nice lingering bitterness. The hop profile is mostly tropical and a bit of citrus and floral notes, and the body is well-balanced with some nice fruity sweetness. Great stuff.

Bear Republic’s Tiki Totem IPA (Picked up at Trader Joe’s). A 3 of 4. A great tropical IPA with some weird complexity that not a lot of others have. Quite dry in the body and finish with a lingering bitterness. The hop profile on this is quite unique and blends some great vegetal notes alongside tropical and floral notes. Quite good.
