Part 2

Obsessed with the idea of like an animal hybrid AU (not really sure how it would work) because Robby is such a bear, big and soft. And for the first time in years he's taking a sabbatical during the winter to do his version of hibernating at home with Abbot and Dennis.

Dr.Abbot is obviously a wolf. He's a pack animal and a provider. He's happy when they're all together, safe under his watchful eye. He loves the summer when Robby suddenly has a ravenous appetite. Nothing pleases that little housewife like cooking for his boys. Sometimes he still treats Dennis like a pup; he always demands he stay within reach whenever they're home and never leaves his neck alone.

For Dennis, I can't decide if he'd be a deer or a puppy. He has that prey drive for sure, and those big doe eyes. Tell me he doesn't look like a deer in headlights in season one. And he's so confused and nervous around his attendings because they kind of scare him but they also make him horny. He normally doesn't do well with predators because they see how skittish he already is, which only makes him nervous, and it's an escalating cycle that has Dennis hurrying to avoid them in the first place. But his attendings are the first predators that make him feel safe and Dennis is shy around them for whole new reasons. And of course, the fact that he's prey, and has a gentle disposition besides, has his attendings feeling all kinds of new emotions.

For Jack and Robby, they're used to being in a relationship with another predator, and suddenly here's this trembling fawn in front of them, and they just want to hide him in their den and drown him in food and blankets and cuddles. (Also, because Dennis is trans in most of my thoughts, he wouldn't have antlers I don't think, and that's a whole other visible way he feels dysphoric, and has no chance of privacy unless he tells everyone he's just shed them, and that excuse only lasts a few months.) He'd so eat berries with Robby in the summer.

BUT if Dennis were a puppy:

(which we all know he is) He's like a little puppy at a shelter. So loving and kind and so desperate to be loved, but so scared because he's met too many unkind hands and has been abandoned too many times. His parents had two litters, and he was the runt of the second, and there was never enough food or clothes or room or attention for him. He's so scared when he starts getting close to Robby and Jack, and when he suddenly realizes he's in too deep, he responds with that defensive aggression and lashes out for a split second. He's sitting with Jack and Robby on the couch and he's breathing too fast because he wants and needs to stay between Robby and Jack, forever, but he knows it's only temporary. So when Jack reaches to pet him, he snaps at the hand, missing it purposefully, but scaring them both. He starts bawling, trying to tell them how bad he wants to stay, but that they don't have to keep him, no one has ever even wanted to.

Once they're able to overcome that though, and when they give Dennis a collar with their names and address, Dennis is a new puppy. He flourishes under their care and love. He starts getting zoomies (which only happy dogs get), and he'll get a sparkle in his eye and try to get whoever is on the couch to play with him, something he had been too shy to do before. And he's such a good boy, and lives to hear it from Jack and Robby. He still has his wariness and shyness with people who haven't showed him they're safe, but he's growing every day, and Robby and Jack are so proud of his new confidence.

Of course, there's still that protectiveness. Dogs are still a domesticated breed, and Dennis might be one of the smaller farm breeds, like a corgi. As the smallest of their pack, as Jack calls them, Robby and Jack both instinctively put him between them while their walking or in public. They always serve him first, which heals the runt in Dennis, and they go feral when patients hurl any kind of abuse at Dennis. Once, a mountain lion came in already heated. When he started getting restless and crowding Dennis, calling him a runt and mutt, Robby had nearly barreled into the patient so he could put himself between them. Ugh and not even to mention his relationship with black cat santos dating cougar (haha) Garcia. (Imagine a puppy and kitten calendar, and that's them.) They get to bond over being the partners of apex predators who are constantly overprotective and posessive.

Another shifter bear Robby Robinavitch, rabbit Jack Abbot, and mouse Dennis Whitaker idea.

When shifters get run down, their bodies will sometimes go into animal mode and pass out without them intending to.

For a mouse and a rabbit, the big issue is accidentally getting stepped on, there are usually signs, a pile of scrubs suddenly appearing to the side of the floor, a quick look around will usually find a smaller shifter curled up under a nearby desk or table or in a pot plant to stay out from underfoot until they can be picked up and placed in a pocket or hood or other carrying apparatus.

It's... A little different for... Large shifters.

Robbear tries VERY hard not to pass out in the ED, because he is Heavy, dense, big enough to block the majority of the corridor making passage difficult... And his sudden size increase... Tears his scrubs... So he is very naked when he wakes back up.

He knows Dana still has the video of Jesse, Donnie, Matthias and several other nurses using ALL their strength to shove him to one side when he had filled an ENTIRE corridor one day after a double gone wrong.

BEAR SHIFTER ROBBY HEADCANONS

bear shifter robby is a hairy gentle giant who lives alone in the woods, used to people being afraid of him and hurting him when they come across him on hiking trails.

when he and human Jack come across each other in the forest, Robby is going to run away, but he can’t help glimpsing this handsome man who’s maybe lost or injured or lonely on his hike. all Jack sees are these big, sad brown eyes as Robby shifts into human form. yeah, it's love at first sight.

jack sees this lonely, sad, lovable creature who's big, yeah, but so is jack, and he knows how to handle himself. he's not worried about getting hurt.

robby would make sure no one, human or animal, bothers jack while he's on his hikes.

in bear form, robby would bring jack all kinds of treats, like honey, berries, a fish that he plops at jack's feet.

jack would give him so many pets in return, as well as gently feeding robby some nuts or berries.

robby loves soft things like vanilla scented candles or a good fleece blanket, in both bear and human form.

all robby ever has to do to earn the pets and cuddles he wants is flash those big brown eyes at jack, in either form. and robby loves cuddles in either form. that's the basis of their relationship. but luckily so does jack, and who wouldn't! robby is soft and hairy and warm, so so cuddly.

in human form in jack's cabin, robby pretends he can fit in jack's lap to cuddle him, always down to take a nap. he's a big heavy lapdog, but jack will always let himself be squished into the couch if it means robby purrs on his shoulder.

and in bear form, robby is also perfect for cuddling. he and jack will stop during a hike to doze together in a sunny meadow, where jack will climb up on his back to sleep.

another good point, jack will ride on robby's back in bear form when his leg gets tired or achy at the end of a long hike, or if god forbid jack ever hurts himself. robby is happy to be a transportation bear!

during sex in human form, robby would be very growly and grumbly, obviously, also super strong, throwing jack around like a ragdoll. he never ever wants to hurt jack even by accident, so he's very gentle and careful at first, almost too much, until jack taunts that he's not made of glass, get on with it.

they love wrestling in human form. robby will growl and sink his teeth in jack's neck or bicep and tug on it, and jack loves that more than he can say. jack loves being slung over his shoulder.

robby loves carrying firewood in his mouth in bear form for jack! carrying anything jack will let him, really. especially when they go shopping in town :)

jack makes all kinds of bear hug jokes, teddy bear jokes, and just general bear jokes when he's petting robby's hairy human body

robby needs his cuddles in the morning and if he doesn't get them he's grumpy at jack for the rest of the day. jack loves the way robby blankets him with his body.

jack can take his cuteness aggression out on robby in bear form because no amount of human slaps is going to hurt robby. jack loves to grunt about how strong and handsome and soft and hairy he is, how much jack loves him.

one time robby wants to show off his fearsome roar in bear form. he does and then immediately looks to jack with those brown eyes for praise. jack is all too happy to tell him that yes, he's a big and scary bear, jack's bear.

the only time robby genuinely gets aggressive is when someone threatens jack, of course, in both forms. robby can be quite fearsome when he means it. and jack can be quite grateful for his man standing up for him- or for the bear standing on two legs to terrify some ableist bigot.

Jack and bear!Robby go on a camping trip because Jack is determined to show Robby all the cool other woods that are out in the world that he can explore as a bear. Robby normally goes into bear form while they hike.

One of the first nights Jack makes the mistake of setting them up at a camp ground. Doesn’t realize it’s a mistake until they’re in their tent that night and things are turning heated. And even though Robby is in his human form (of course) he is SUPER growly and *loud* as he fucks into Jack.

Jack tries desperately to shush and quiet him. They are surrounded by other campers. But Robby’s given in to his animal instincts, he doesn't care. After too many shushes from Jack, he pulls back, looks Jack dead in the eyes, presses his full considerable weight into Jack like he’s prey beneath his paws, and growls. Dominating him. 

And oh lord does that display/assertion of dominance make Jack subby af. He doesn’t say another word, just gives in, will deal with all the shifty glances from other campers tomorrow, fuck it. Not that it matters, Robby’s already fucking into him again, growling and grumbling possessively.

"Robby, honey, we have to be quiet," Jack gasps, though it's not very effective when Robby's not the only one making noise. He's clutching Robby by the shoulders, his legs over Robby's hips, biting his lip as Robby fucks him and fucks him deep.

Adding to The Pitt shifter Hucklerabbot ideas... Bear Robby, where everyone is struggling to see where his two partners are because they can smell them but not see them.

Until little Abbot Rabbit ears and a tiny Dennis mouse nose both snuffle and poke their way out of the thick fur on his back and hop down to skitter and hop into the change rooms to well, change back into humans and get dressed for work.

slumbering bear shifter robby who growls/grumbles in his sleep/hibernation every time jack tries to get up from under him. his hips and cock searching for jack, grumbling happy when his cock finds Jack’s loose hole to fuck into in his sleep - perpetually loose and prepped from all the fucking they do - jack whiny and sore but willing.

Everyone thinks Trinity is a cat, or a fox or a medium sized carnivore shifter.

Trinity is A Guinea Pig Shifter.

She felt safe taking Whitaker into her home because he was smoller than her in his mouse form.
