opinions on today’s dream doodles?
@LarsUlrich on Instagram: Happy Saturday! Do you #wanna??? 🤪
What colors, sights, sounds, textures, etc. inspire you? Do certain environments make you feel more creative than others?
well well well what a duo @rederiss and the guy himself.
okay this one is interesting to me because. yes. but also. it's everything?
so, to start, if i can't write, i go outside and take a walk or i go jogging. i switch from paper, to computer, to my phone. i change my surroundings, i change what i'm writing with. it usually helps break through any block.
in terms of direct inspiration, as corny as this is going to sound: it's all experience. something will happen to me and i need to write it. i cut my thumb, i need to write someone cutting their thumb. i was writing something, recently, inspired by an odd physical sensation i had: i was laying in bed, two in the morning, and suddenly i felt my heartbeat pulsatinging through my fingertips? i just knew i had to write that into a scene. with ronan. it had to be ronan.
and boom. there ya go. i really take the idea of rooting fiction in reality to heart. everything i've written, the physical sensations/what has occured/etc etc is rooted in a reality. and thats a lot of inspiration for individual moments. is simply experience a physicality and wondering, how can i make someone else feel this with my words? can i root someone in a physical sensation, make them live my reality for a moment in time? its a challenge, almost.
music is inspiring, too! it varies, inspiration. i hate to cop out and say i find inspiration everywhere but! i do! i find inspiration in music, in the way breeze feels over my skin, in how the sun filters through leaves and i just need to describe that, someone. it's... almost how a painter sees the world and has to draw a sketch. if i see something, experience something, think of something, i have to interpret it through an artistic lens, or it drives me insane.
i suppose reality. with all risk of sounding pretentious. however, i will say sometimes format and technical aspirations inspire me? be that (some)body was a fic i wrote for kinktober, hence the challenge and inspiration of breaching my personal boundaries and feelings of shame surrounding sex. it was a mental goal. haste and insanity was to force myself into using only one metaphor. the entire first chapter was written using stained glass imagery and vocabulary as descriptors. the second was using lighting and photography techniques. and the newest black magic chapters are because i just... want to try epistolary. top secret wip is to force myself to try second person.
long story short, i'm copping out in my answer but also it comes down to: translating reality to blur the lines, and challenging myself artistically.
thank you for asking <3
